Good Morning All. Clear and 49°, temperatures still going up into the mid to upper 70's for a few more days until a cold front hits us after sunset Tuesday. NWS is still sticking with their forecast of rain Sunday night into Monday, however it won't affect the temperature much. Overnight lows after the cold front hits should be in the upper-30's on Wednesday and Thursday. Back to regular Fall weather by next weekend.
Nothing special about yesterday here. I cleaned up some brush and did some house cleaning; much to the surprise of my wife. Gotta do something while waiting for the dew to dry outside.
Out in the train shed yesterday, I continued with the current project scene. I started by touching up a couple of spots where the ground cover was lacking, and then did a couple more nearby places where the dripping water through the missing roof back in May, had washed away what was there. I've still got a few more of those places plus some washed out ballast to fix.
Then I started on a barbed-wire fence to separate the wooded area from the warehouse on the south (left in yesterday's pictures). I planned to use some of the Woodland Scenics fencing.
It would require cutting some of it up to fit the intended space. Then I realized that it comes with extra posts and I had about 2 dozen stashed away already.
So I just used five of them and some 6" pieces of .010" wire that I use for homemade fences, a little super glue and made a custom one.
Well, I accidentally moved it on my pattern while making it and that left the section on the right at a scale 12.5' instead of the intended 11'. It's not going to be a big deal, since that section is going to be perpendicular to any viewer and will butt up to the backdrop on the upper level. Three foot rule comes into play here.
Letting the super glue set up overnight before installing it next. I also spruced up some of the trees that I got from
Chet, as some of the foliage clumps had come off during handling and transport a thousand miles away. I have a box full of clumps that were left in the bottom of the shipping box. Here's how they came to me!
Terry - MSN is not my home page and I don't get hurricane warnings, but I have noticed there's usually at least one or two outdated stories there every time I open it up.
For me, the Kadee #158's don't play as well with much of my fleet with the older #5's. I use the #148's instead. Oversized, yes, but works with #5's very well. My experience only.
Tom O - That's too bad regarding Terry's cataract surgery. I had to do the cardiac testing, but not any kind of breathing testing. Maybe it's because it's been over 50 years since I touched tobacco in the 60's.
Louis - Yes, I saw your mention of the quick trigger finger. 44 years of using various chainsaws and I still have all digits and limbs intact.
Troy - I'm not defending the DFW airport, but there are 215 restaurants in there. But they are scattered through five separate terminals. Mostly they don't open until between 7 and 9 am. I don't know how this compares to other airports. Go to NerdWallet for an interactive guide.
Everyone have a superb Saturday.
