With the news from Switzerland about supposed agreements with China, the market was up today. Based on 4 major indices between 2.81% and 4.35% if I wrote down my notes correctly. My two DIY 401/k and HSA accounts were up but underperformed the indices: 1.21% - 2.14%. That's OK. Some of these other days recently I out performed them. I'm happy with increases instead of decreases, even if someone had better increases than me.

Good morning, Everybody!

I'm loving this weather! No heat, no A/C for weeks. We open the windows at night and close the blackout curtains during the day.

Going old school is working well for us. The house has been between 68-74 and all the fresh air is a bonus! Add to that the A/C is not making me as stiff as an old horse.

Well howdy there internet peeps and those gifted flying palaces!

It's Troy again.

Nothing much going on here. Tennis elbow flared up overnight. I don't play tennis, but have enough repetitive motion activities that who knows what caused it.

Need to go get an armband for it. Advil and arthritis pain gel aren't taking it down very far.

Got a few rainy days on tap here in the fort. I did turn on the upstairs AC unit last night. The house is at 73, but upstairs, with the extra AC was 76. I need to turn it down a few notches and let the upstairs where the bedrooms are lose the humidity so it's comfortable to sleep.

I'll check back later. I need to shower then head out to get that armband.

Good morning gang!

64° with light rain. Does like rain continues throughout the day with a daytime high of only 68°. Yes it’s gonna be a gloomy rainy day but look at the bright side. It will keep the pollen down.

Coffee, coffee, coffee gotta have coffee!

We let the dogs out last evening for a potty break before sundown. Next thing you know the little dog is running around with a very young rabbit in her mouth. Freaked the wife out! Took a few minutes to actually get her cornered so I could grab her and pry her mouth open by that time poor little rabbit had passed. I really thought that if anybody caught a rabbit, it would be my border collie not my little 18 pound terror.

Morning all,

57° and clear going for a high later of 84°. Tomorrow we're looking at a new record of 91° to 94° depending on which weather prognosticator you listen to.

Trying to figure out the ads feed on the site as I had this when I got here this morning:

Those choices would get most fathers in big trouble. And they're 25% off as well.... 🤣 🤣 🤣

Have a good day as I have to get back to work...BBL

That reminds me of the day our cat, Sylvester came in with a blue budgerigar. Some owner must have let it out its cage and out the door it went. Sylvester must have thought all his Christmases had come together.

Good Morning All. Clear and 62°, supposed to reach 95° today and the NWS is still forecasting 101° for tomorrow before dropping back into the upper 80's on Thursday. They have however added thunderstorms for the weekend.

Not much time this morning, as we're headed for a joint doctor's appointment at the primary care guy's place. It's been 7 weeks since I last saw any doctor at all, so it's been like a vacation to me. That one was just the semi-annual dermatologist visit. We'll be traveling in separate cars since my wife will head for another granddaughter dance recital and spend the night there. I'll be headed to HD on the way home and also fill the gas cans for the mower. Then I'll double check the air conditioners since they will be needed. We cleaned the filters last fall, so that isn't needed. Too bad that the pleasant days of the last two weeks is finally coming to an end.

I did spend a little time out in the train shed yesterday, mainly painting figures. I also ran two trains, one local and one unit train to interrupt the local's business. No time this morning for pictures though.

Chad - I'm glad that you are making gains in the market, but all of the stuff that you describe is just too complex and time consuming for me to bother with. Sherrel used to try to get me into some of that stuff. I am happy with straightforward investment in stocks and ETF's. My gains yesterday were 1.3% in a single day, not my best day, but that's a pretty good one day return. It could be a lot better, but I have resisted adding more to equities and stocks than the 38% allocation that I currently have. My very best days were two days about 10 days ago at 1.6% on two consecutive days. But all of this could be easily erased if a certain someone makes a stupid comment. Presidents make no real overall difference in the market. Ironically, my best years have come when a Democrat was President, 2011, 2014, 2023 and 2024. But my worst year was also under a Democrat, 2009.
Kusojiji - DJ's videos are really top-notch

Stevie Wonder is 75 today.
Everyone have a great Tuesday.

I'd call 2009 an outlier that needs to be classified as something different than under one or another party. That was a fallout year from the bad sub-prime bank bailouts. Plenty of blame to spread around to all the politicos.

I'm back from the donut and brace run. Looks like BioFreeze gel is going to be my go-to today.

Otherwise I'm working on getting the audiobook finished. Next week, while we're vacationing, I'll take computer and work on typing words instead of having the AI make human voices.

As for the little toy soldiers, I think I'm going to ask for help from other gamers. Figured out I stall out whenever I need to assemble the parts into little soldiers. I just don't enjoy that part. But I do like to paint them.

About to post to a local discord and see if anyone local wants to make some cash for assembling the 6 or so regiments I've got yet to build.

Good morning,

58f and sunny, light breeze.

We are ready to wrap up our new garden arrangement, includes a picket fence and raised bed. Just a few more wheelbarrow loads of black dirt.

Maybe finish a new homesteaders dwelling for the layout today. Also edit the spring tour video

A couple eggs and toast today, please

Good morning from So. Central Wisconsin. 66f degrees now with low 80’s later. A good 60% chance of thunderstorms this afternoon which is about 36 hours earlier than the 5 day forecast on Sunday. No biggie, the lawns are cut, new downspouts diverters are installed and we could use the rain.

I also used to talk to Sherrel about the stock market and being aggressive not passive in my age 60’s. I prefer stocks that are dividend producers in my own stock portfolio. I was fairly (4 me) aggressive in my 401k plan and he encouraged me on that but I never budged on my dividend search in my own stock portfolio. Everyone has their ways and ideas. I prefer to buy and hold, Terry even today is aggressive on the family stuff. We have had many discussions over the years about the family stuff. While I have always been nervous she has done very well. The thing though is we started a property management company. We both agreed to strict rules and we did very well that she could play with stocks in our retirement. The kids were foolish for saying they didn’t want any part of it. Give me real estate any day over stocks.

The guys are coming over this afternoon to run trains. Basically we will continue to test track but the trains will operate off a switch list. The goal because my layout is small is to keep 2 experienced crews of 2 busy for 90 minutes. 3 different switch lists scenarios were emailed to me last night. I will be setting up for one of them this morning. We do plan to execute all 3 but I am hopeful to get through 2 this afternoon depending on issues. The 3rd switch list provides for a single crew working the grain mill, the ethanol loadout and a through train making the need for 5 operators plus me.

I’m pumped that we got this far yesterday.

Enjoy the day

How many solders make up the regiments?

I wish I could just open the windows at night. But I’m trying to not let dust in as we have an ERV (ventilation system with filters) and I don’t want to clog the filters prematurely or get dust everywhere. I’m trying to convince the wife that we won’t have to dust everywhere all the time like previously.

And we have a lot of dust in the air right now with the winds blowing the dry desert dust. Especially here on the outskirts.

Luckily we don’t get big temperature swings inside the house but I did have to figure out how to get the cooling turned on yesterday.

I love spring and fall because of low or no utility use for heating and cooling (at least in our old house).

Do you have to worry about the deer playing in the garden?
