Until we moved to Cancerfornia
I am sick and tired of seeing the you can't blame me for getting cancer notification on everything. Tell them to stop eating everything. Speakers, car stereos, tv, model trains - no, not for eating or injecting.

I used to receive Crutchfield fliers. I couldn't tell what the item was as the cancer warning was larger than the item description. I told Crutchfield to stop sending.

It's California's Proposition 65 law. Unless you have subjected every component of an item, including the packaging, to several million dollars' worth of extensive testing to prove it "doesn't" cause cancer, you are required by California law to place those warnings on everything.
The huge warning labels are sarcasm...
Personally, if you eat a speaker, you deserve to get cancer.

In other news, I received both the correct decoder for the new dash 9, and the new ET44 to utilize the incorrect decoder, installed and programmed both, and they are happily tooling around my layout as we speak.
One of the few advantages of being conditioned to get up at O-dark thirty every day.
Next task will be to remove the SXT couplers and install MT 1015/1016 couplers on them.

Just read the lastest N-Scale magazine. Noticed that Paul Hillmer's wisconsin based layout is featured. When I realized he was in Tom O's area, I started looking for highly weathered rolling stock.

From the pics, Paul has a few in the moderate weathering category, but nothing that screamed Tom's work. Of course, it's N Scale, and tom works mostly in HO.

To be honest, Paul's layout has a LOT of shiny plastic in both rolling stock and structures. Note to self, weather and dull coat everything.

Just got back from a week in San Antonio Texas… what struck me was almost constant 24/7 rail action…I was downtown near Broadway and W. Jones and the freight traffic was pretty much constant…day and night
Horns, wheels squealing…auto racks, tank cars, gondolas, covered hoppers and boxcars…
One day I saw a CN loco push-pulling in the middle of a long freight consist…
I didn’t get any pics as I was about 100 plus yards away… and the view was framed by the elevated expressway on top and buildings to the right and left…

Back in Toronto, i was in the Junction Thursday getting some food and saw lots of containers rolling on the CP line…but I left my phone in the car…
Today I went to my usual haunt…some scruffy covered hoppers…

Wow great pictures of scruffy covered hoppers. Those are perfect for weathering and copying graffiti. I thank you…

No rotation… but spent much time in the River Walk… it was Fiesta Weekend..
I read recently how the Riverwalk is so over rated and dirty. Terry and I love the Riverwalk and have visited often and we never have been disappointed. The son had a job last year where his Crews were bat-proofing some of the bridges near the tracks where the Interstate was getting renewed. They had to safely keep the bats from returning so the highway workers could demo the bridges. Bats are a protected species in Texas. He said lots of UP trains there and the plan is in June he and I will do some train spotting there and meet the girls later on the Riverwalk.

Ooh, almost went on a rant! breath in breath out ok good to go.

What is it, 3am over there? Coffee hasn't woken up yet for you haha.
Rants are good and we get a few every month. As long as you don’t go political it’s fine. We’ve all been there and many of us have typed out our rants. As long as you feel better with the breathing exercises that’s good too. But if you need to boil over, no swearing no politics, let her rip

Good morning all!

Weekend is finally upon us!

Going to be another beautiful day weather wise. Currently 55F but heading up to 79F, and no rain.
I see we may get our first 90 degree day later next week.

I noticed last night while reading the Scaletrains news letter that the N scale AC4400 that are due next week
has jumped $30 for a DCC ready, and $50 for a DCC/sound. Wonder how many cancelations they are going to
have? I have 2 pre-orders for Gunderson high cubes, and 8 3-packs of containers. due sometime in May. Not sure
what I will do there yet. I did pull my CC info from there site so they don't just automatically bill.

Not sure what today will bring, no real plans as of yet.

Have a safe day everyone!

His name and layout were mentioned yesterday in the Wisconsin layout operators group chat last night. I’m supposed to know Paul as I was told he’s operated in the Madison area but I honestly can’t place him. So I doubt I’ve met him unless it was a quick hello at the MadCity or Trainfest shows. I do know I have not operated in N scale since I retired. He does post on Facebook sites: Wisconsin Model Railroaders and Rail Operators of Wisconsin. His layout and trains are well done

If Dave Rickaby is photographing your layout it’s getting into one of the magazines. Dave not only is a great photographer and writer he’s one of the nicest guys involved with Model Railroading

TROYPHOTO, one of the 1st thing I do for my personal equipment after the initial inspection is wash the model and do a matte clear coat. It may get weathered right a way but most of my own equipment will suit for months before it gets any weathering

When I worked I was up at 4:45am
Yup, I was up at 0400, get to the office before 0500 to beat the traffic and get a parking spot while working in Hawaii. In Japan, get up at 0400 and be there before 0500 to beat the traffic and get a parking spot. Later, I got promoted and got a parking spot, but still got there early. Now, I have my parking spot and hardly drive anywhere at all. When I first retired, I actually made it 0700. Now, back to 4-5 o'clock. I really shouldn't drink that much water haha.

Shane’s video from last week mentioned 2 weeks before shipping they will inform the pre-orderers of what the actual price will be. You then have the choice to cancel. My guess is 50% will cancel. I’m sure SCaletrains and others come June will start laying off. Too bad

Good Morning All. Clear and 60°, upper 70's again today. Warmup begins Monday and the NWS is now predicting 100° for Wednesday! We normally don't see 100° days until mid to late June. In my gardening journal, I recorded it once on April 17 in 2006. I recorded it 3 times in May since moving here, on May 30 in both 2003 and 1985, and one earlier on May 6 in 1998. I didn't keep track before 1981, so it may have happened before.

I got most of the front (east) yard mowed yesterday, moving to another area when the tires couldn't maintain traction any more (muddy). Then after a bit, I hit a large rock hidden in the high grass that caused the blade belt to jump off. No damage to the blades. So that's where it ended. I got thoroughly soaked from lying on the grass when re-installing it; grass was dry but the ground was not. So I called it a day and used the electric push mower around the garden and the pool instead. I'll get back on the tractor today. I also have a pile of tree limbs stacked up that I have to start cutting up. They're still left from the tornado and they've been moved a few times to allow for mowing.
In the garden, I expect to harvest some English Peas either today or tomorrow. Spinach has keeled over from too much rain water so those plants need to be taken to the compost pile. Onions are bulbing nicely and they appear to be on time for the normal late-May harvest.

While I did visit the train shed yesterday, I only ran trains, once again looking for troublesome freight cars. No issues yesterday, but I did spot an Accurail covered hopper that was missing the trip pin in the coupler. No biggie here as I have a stash of them that I have removed from the roadbed during cleaning over the years. I dipped the tip into a dab of Gorilla super glue before installing it, a practice that I started doing on new builds about 10 years ago when I first started finding the loose ones on the layout.
There wasn't enough time for me to devote to the planned fence between the parking lot and track. At this point I am rethinking the plan as interest wanes. It will still get done, but maybe not in the next month or so. Once it gets too hot for big outdoor projects and I spend more time in the air conditioned train shed, it will be easier to spend the extended modeling time required for it.

Tom O -
The group I walk with are hell bent on doing 4 miles in 48 minutes
That ain't walking. That's trotting! I can go 2 miles in 48 minutes with a little bit of time to spare.
Troy - Re: Omeprazole - Studies exist that prove everything one might consume is bad for you. Take them with a grain of salt. Ooops! That's bad for you as well. But I would say that where there's smoke, there may be fire so be careful.
I've been a morning person for over 50 years. Still get up before 0400 without an alarm, even though I've been retired almost 10 years.
Airbrush - A CN loco in San Antonio is probably not unusual. San Antonio is a major hub for CPKC and CN locos are regularly "borrowed". I see them in CPKC trains at the nearby interchange with BNSF sometimes.
Actually it seems like every weekend is Fiesta Weekend on the river walk in San Antonio.

Lead singer Bono from U2 is 65 today. He's too political for me to listen to any more.

Everyone have a super Saturday.
