Well, howdy there internet peeps and those with coffee

It's Troy again.

Happy Birthday to Dave's Dawn. Keep that pretty lady happy today, sir. Looks like you found a keeper.

Went to lunch with the wife yesterday, and hit City BBQ (a mostly Eastern US chain). BBQ, especially greasy meat or heavilly peppered meat had been causing me issues with my digestive system, mostly in my esophagus. So I had to lay off BBQ from the place. Brisket was really bothering me.

I started experimenting with "what is causing it" and one thing I did was cut out the Flonase nasal gel I'd been taking to help with post nasal drip. My doc when we were in Calif recommended it back in 2018? I also switched back to a PPI (acid blocker) Omeprazole instead of an acid reducer (famotidine).

I gave it three weeks without that gel and switching meds and started eating food that had been triggers. And I feel fine! The nasal gel evidently had been irritating my throat where it oversprayed and ran down. Greasy or spicy foods would irritate that part, and I'd have trouble getting the food to go past the inflammation once it hit. But, those problems seem to have disappeared.

I see the doc (in Indiana, not the one in Calif) in Sept. So I'll report in then, and ask for a script for the Omeprazole. But, just to get their money, my mail order pharmacy auto sent me another 3 month supply of the Famotidine. I supposedly moved the refill date one day too late to stop the most recent shipment. So I now have a nine month supply of a cheap med I'm not taking. Fortunately, both it and Omeprazole are OTC. Speaking of, I need to get to Costco and get a couple of boxes of Omeprazole to tide me over until I see my doc.

In other news, the Cat's Pooping Palace has been cleaned for the spring. The Humidifiers have been bleached and stored for the season. One week+ until the trip to Gettysburg PA. Need to get the wife to watch the movie, since she knows almost nothing about the battle. I'll see if I can figure out which shell explosion was the one where Ron Maxwell blew up exec producer Ted Turner. Ted supposedly wanted a cameo, and was on set when they were were filming Picket's charge.

Good morning gang!

54° and raining rain should continue through the morning till early afternoon then cloudy until dark. Expected daytime high today in the low 60s.
In the US, we refer to that position (of the cat) as an Admiral Akbar. "It's a TRAP!"

Go ahead. Rub her belly. See what happens.
Not always a trap. Our boy Desi loves his belly rubbed.

I take Omeprazole, that I get from the river place. Interestingly, the auto-correct wants me to replace that name with "flameproof". Hmm...
Anyway, a box of 42, 20mg capsules is $10.43. With the supposed issue of long-term consumption of that drug causing dementia, after I went through the initial round of dosage, I started taking it every other day, and have no GIRD to speak of.

Good morning from chilled So Central Wisconsin where it is 32f degrees now and mid 70’s this afternoon. There is no breeze so it actually feels like 32. I wasn’t dressed properly for the walk this morning, shorts and a tee shirt so I turned around at the 1 mile mark as I wasn’t warming up. The group I walk with are hell bent on doing 4 miles in 48 minutes but I’m not. They are nice folks but no buddies or friends I want are in the group so I’m thinking I’ll start to walk in a different direction.

Not sure about today with the daughter’s family in Minneapolis for hockey the house is quiet. The grass is long and I maybe riding a mover this morning as the grandson is gone. The doctor has approved the rider and using the trimmer but still not for pushing a mover. Around noon and I can do the 3 neighbors the gf/son also cuts. The neighbors have been aware he couldn’t do it this week.

I may venture into my train room today but not really sure what I want to do. My 3 friends I travel with for op and work sessions wanttto come over to get my layout operating in full again. Maybe Sunday…

Enjoy the day

Good morning all,

We have a chilly 34f heading for a high of 82. The sun is out and the birds are chattering away.

The cell phone is still a bit goofy but I am hopeful it will make a full recovery (after being submerged for 12 hours in 32 degree water)

Maybe if I drop it a couple times?

I made another stump farm on the layout, a couple hardy men will be clearing the land for farming. Pics after the glue dries.

Good Morning All. Clear and 59° with easterly wind at 4 mph. It will switch out of the north shortly and pick up some, but it's not a cold front. Same pattern as yesterday. The NWS is now predicting 97° for Wednesday, a little early but we went over 90° back in mid-April earlier this year.

Not a lot happening around here yesterday, the weekly grocery trek went OK. No noticeable tariff increases on food from Mexico. Gas is still the same price around town, holding at around $2.59/gal and local drivers have not improved. Denton is a college town, so every driver under age 45 is on their phones and distracted. It was still too wet and soggy to mow yesterday, but I did use the weedeater for a while.
I will be able to mow today, gas tank is full and I have another can ready to use. There's no shortage of places that are overgrown right now. Something about getting 7"+ rain in the last two weeks.

I only ran trains out in the train shed yesterday. I was spooked by the derailments and uncouplings earlier in the week, so I ran nearly every train from staging to staging that was ready. Everything went fine yesterday.

David - Please extend my warmest birthday wishes to Dawn today.

Pianist and singer Billy Joel is 76 today. I always liked his music, but he is one act that I never did see live in concert. He played here last year in the Cowboys football stadium.
Short post this morning as my wife has a project that she needs me to do.
Everybody have a great Friday and a wonderful weekend.

I've been looking into that issue of Dementia, and the jury is still out on the issue. Several gastro departments are on record saying the studies were not conclusive. One I looked at from 2023 was difficult to read through. But if I understand the methodology of an observational study (followed patients on the drug and not on it) the percentage difference between the two groups wasn't great enough to alarm me. I think it was only a 3+% shift.

I'll chat with my doc. But I'm leaning toward staying on it.

And the River store price is about the same as Costco within a few pennies.

While all the cats that belong to members here are lying around with seemingly no energy to do anything my neighbor's cat is constantly jumping over my 4ft fence chasing the birds hanging around the bird feeder.
Swal
Yesterday the sliding screen door was not latched and one of the cats (the delinquent) opened the the screen door enough for both to escape. I just know they have been plotting this for sometime. Since they never are out without being on leashes, they didn't wander too far. They are not allowed in the shop where I have the RR layout.
