Good morning, y'all. Chilly and overcast.

Still looking for a dentist with appointments available sooner than later...

Not much else going on with us, although our surrounding area keeps doubling the Corona cases every couple of days. Some of the nit wits in our neighborhood, are not practicing the recommended prevention suggestions, they either believe they are exempt from the Governor's order, or that they won't get it because they haven't been to New York. Nutz!

Morning all,

My rare Saturday instead of Friday session. I have time for a cup of Coffee and a cinnamon roll this morning.

Not much going on, I had my annual physical yesterday as I was scheduled for the lab work and the rest of the physical for Tuesday. A cancellation made my physical possible when I already had a day off, so lucky me. Then my knee specialist called to reschedule my 10 year recheck on the replacement and will also look at my "good" knee as I know I tore something up in it a couple of weeks ago. My initial thought is a meniscus tear based on how it locked and now is extremely painful when I straighten it and only manageable when I walk.

It is supposed to be a bit warmer today and tomorrow, so I'm planning on cutting the new control station this weekend. I need it warm in the garage so I can use the table saw to get my cuts straight. Otherwise not much going on.

Good Morning Everyone. 71° and overcast. Scattered thunder and lightning, but no rain here. It's raining a bit over a mile away at the nearest Weather Underground station though. Whatever we get will be very scattered and very light. Looks like cooler weather for the next ten days, highs only in the upper 60's and lower 70's. Some cool nights in the upper 40's coming up.
Broke the isolation again yesterday, going to the Feed Store to purchase tomato and pepper plants. Only one other customer while I was there so social distancing wasn't too difficult. Owner said that the feed/seed business was still really good, but most of it was now delivery to the local ranchers and farmers instead of pick up. Got back too late to plant yesterday, but depending on the rainfall this morning, I should be able to plant them this afternoon or tomorrow. Covid-19 finally hit our county with two confirmed cases this past week, one in a nursing home and the other is a health care worker who works in a different county. We'll soon see how many others that they came in contact with before being diagnosed. Still no lockdown from the local authorities, but it is still an individual county decision in Texas.

How about some ham, egg and cheese biscuits this morning Flo.

Thanks for the likes and comments on the backdrop and the next kit build; Karl, Bob, Jerome, Johnny, Sherrel, Joe, Gary, Guy, Phil, Justin, Chad, Curt, Tom, Patrick. I hope to continue posting progress pictures.

As expected I mostly ran trains yesterday. I did do a bit of workbench stuff. Assembled the foundation and primed the foundation walls for starters.

I later painted the rockwork and fastened everything together.

I also added primer to all of the structure walls while I was at the paint booth.

Sherrel/Bob - Fence will be droopy. What I meant to infer by making it taut, is that I will be removing some of the upward kinks out of it.
Joe - Congratulations on getting some trains running.
but Governor Cuomo ordered all non essential work places shut down into April, and Model Train distribution and fulfillment is not considered essential according to the State of New York
Too bad for that. One would think that essential or not, a couple of employees filling orders from a big warehouse could keep their distance and continue to contribute to the economy, and send tax money to Albany. It's almost like some politicians want their economies to fail.
Guy - It normally doesn't take that long to mow, but with all of the rain and ideal growing conditions, some areas got out of control. And with the somewhat still wet grass, I had to do some areas twice to get an even cut. On top of that, it should have been started about a week ago.
That garage came out really well. I like the interior detailing.
Terry - Interesting what the owner said about using vacation time, but you may be better off. In Texas, if I am reading the stimulus package correctly, employees on unemployment will actually receive bigger paychecks than if they kept working. My wife the tax preparer, confirms this.
Phil -
Used WALLY-WORLDS pickup service . Worked very nicely. The parking lot was half filled. WHY ???
All of those employees shopping for you and others.
Curt - Nice deal on the Walther's stuff.

I see that today would have been Major League Baseball's opening day. Too bad as many cooped up folks could appreciate it. It's also Lady GaGa's birthday; who cares?
Thunder and lightning stopped about 30 minutes ago and the cool front from the west has hit. Looks like a line of light showers behind it coming our way. Earlier rain didn't even get the cars completely wet. Fluffy the cat is taunting the granddog from the safety of the other side of the glass door.
Everybody have a great day and a wonderful weekend.

Good morning gang!
56° with thunderstorms today, Its pouring out there right now, looks to be that way most of the weekend. Puppy has a DR. appointment in an hour, so I will be brief.

Boris, I'll see your shiny RS3, and raise you one Shiny RS3!! ;)

BBL with likely wet clothes from wrangling the dog in the rain!

It's mostly sunny and 60.
I was able to file my unemployment claim last night, several days before I was told I'd be able to.
One of the things very specifically asked in the claim was whether I was being paid for my accrued vacation time, and that would lower my benefits. Looks like the boss was right about that.
"Please allow up to three weeks for your claim to be processed. Please allow an additional 4-6 weeks for payments to begin".
Also, according to the application, I am required to go out and look for a job, and have the places I go to look provide proof I was there looking, so I will get paid. Really? We are in a "stay at home" order, and I am supposed to go out and meet and talk to as many people as I can? Bureaucracy at its finest.

Terry - I know that rules vary from state to state. About two weeks ago, our governor waived the wait period and the look for work requirements, although the first check might still take 7-10 days dependent on direct deposit. Perhaps your governor has done the same but the website/paperwork hasn't been updated.

A few months ago a very small leak appeared on the copper pipe going to the boiler hot water coil. I put off fixing it because I didn't want to shut down the furnace during the winter months. This morning it was a much bigger problem. I took and old rag soaked it in gorilla glue and wrapped it around the pipe. It's holding so far. As soon as it's warm out I'll have to replace everything. It would be $500.00 or more for a plumper so I'll be doing it myself.

Yessir, I'm from the Government and I'm here to help you!
Talking this morning that LA County may permanently lose 30,000 restaurants over the goings on. TV News had a couple guys on who turned their eatery into a corner grocery store; however, the city closed them down because they did not have a grocery permit!
Government has no shortage of Bureaucracy at its finest!

Good Morning folks - Another 40 degrees this morning supposed to be 62 later on .. possible showers called for tomorrow - that's fine with me, but I would welcome some warmer temps?

Not much planned for today except a trip tp HD for 9 volt batteries for the smoke detectors. I went to Costco yesterday, but gave up as there were about 500 people in line to get into the store - and I stood there for about 5 min and -- nope - I;m out of here. The TP Truck must have come in as everyoneleaving had a cart full of TP ... What the hell are they doing with all the TP?

Hope you get into a dentist soon JOE.
, FLO, I need another coffee, pleasr!

Good Morning Everyone....over cast and rain here in this part of Wisconsin.

Yesterday, I finally fixed that Tortoise problem after numerous replacements of the DPDT mini-toggle switch that controlled the Toriose. I was getting power from the control panel to the Tortoise buy it would only operate in a single direction which would suggect a bad DPDT toggle switch. Finally, I took another brand new, unused toggle switch from another panel and replaced the wiring from the panel (switch) to the Tortoise and it worked. I can't believe that other four mini-toggle switches could be bad!!! I tested each one before wiring then for electrical reversing operation But, now it works and I can get back to the projects I was worked on prior to the Tortoise's failure.

George: Glad you made a temporary repair to the piping system and good luck on that patch holding which it may for a long time, but I would call a professional plumber when you decide to work on the piping system. That rusted iron pipe can be a real bear to work on and without a doubt there will be problems. The corroding of the copper pipe is likely cause by the copper piping attached to Galvanized Steel with the two dissimilar metals causing galvanic corrosion. There should be a dielectric union installed that is a fitting designed to prevent this from occurring in the future. This is installed bewteen the copper and metal piping.

Today I'll check the dwf signal lighting in the Pine River Yard. The signals help the engineer know what direct the turnouts are set for and then they can select what track to use fro car storage.

Patrick: Two of my doctors have cancelled my appointments that are in May and April. One nurse who called said the hospital is "full" and they don't want any healthy individuals coming to the facility. The other didn't want me to go to a lab for blood testing until the virus thing is over. Fun, I was at the hospital has Wednesday and while the parking decks were half full, I still had my appointment, but the waiting area that could hold 40 individuals had just me, my wife and another person.

On Line Stores: Does any one know of an on line model railroad store that's filling orders? I could use some items.

Going to watch 1917 tomorrow.

Down to the layout. An old ALCO patched for the CM&N will be pulling a six car ore unit train of empties.

Greg

Thanks for the advice Greg but I've already changed almost every pipe in the house. I recently started using plastic vs copper but I'll replace the furnace pipes with copper. I had the oil company come replace a pipe once and it was $175.00 for 15 minutes work. I won't be calling them again. I use own a stock car and did some welding back then so it's totally new to me. Note if you ever use gorilla glue make sure you wear gloves. It does not come off. I learned this the hard way last year.
