I've done my last three colonoscopies non-sedated - nothing to it, and I can drive myself home (or to work) after the procedure rather than having someone else drive. I do agree with Chet, it's the prep that kills me.

Headed for the train shed since I'm not supposed to do anything else today! Been home about two hours now, had to eat and nap first. Feel great, the two procedures went off without a hitch. Yes everything came out OK, mainly the tube!!! Upper GI was clean and there were a few polyps removed in the other end. Very interesting day surgery center. Operated like an assembly line. Go in the door, fill out some more paperwork (after about a dozen pages on the Internet), head for prep, get moved to procedure room, end up in recovery and out the door in less than two hours. As I alluded to earlier, the hardest part was not eating for over 40 hours. My regular MD will be so happy to hear that I finally went, as he has been after me to do it for over ten years.
Thanks for all of the well wishes guys.

Willie

WILLIE- Congrats on a CLEAN outcome. Been there- Have the scars to prove it.
Best wishes,
Phil

Willie .... Good to hear everything came out okay .

Greg (WI) ... Thanks for the remark. This scene is on a section which is two feet deep as is most of my layout.

Phil .... If I include lumps, will you flip them for me?... LOL

......

I took these photos while in Princeton, KY today. It was raining. The Paducah & Louisville has a small freight yard there.

The lead P&L unit is a road slug.

Here is a pair of CSX GE units

By the way. There is a shoe store in Princeton. The owner is a sole proprietor.

There may be some tipping of cows involved, though...

And yes, I got a kick out of the shoe joke...

The prep the night before definately isn’t fun, the chafing can get a bit painful. I actually enjoy the sedation, they never put me completely under so I feel like I’m 18 again and high as a kite while watching myself on my own private Discovery Channel;););)

Good morning. It's cloudy and 62.

I found more data to squash the doc's opinion about leaving my disabled wife home alone constituting neglect or abuse. Since she hasn't been deemed incapacitated or incapable, the rest of his argument is automatically invalidated.

Good morning gang!
62°, the sun is shining, the birds are chirping and spring is in the air! (or is that the local barnyard?)
Anyway, T.G.I.F. everyone! :D

Sitting here over my first cup of coffee. Trolling my Facebook feed looking at all the Chessie System posts. Bam!!!! Demolition photos of the NF&G engine shops in Rainelle, WV. I should say I'm not surprised as the tracks going to it have long been pulled up. Shoot there's a paved lot on the backside of it now. That wasn't there when I was a reservist in the Army. So I suppose change is inevitable. Oh well more history that will vanish with the changing times.

Good Morning All. 44° and clear skies today. A bit chilly this Good Friday morning. Yesterday was a wonderful day weatherwise, clear sunny, light breeze and 68°. It's beginning to dry out a bit. I did spend a little time hand-weeding around onion plants in the garden. Not as much as I wanted because I was still a little tipsy from the sedative earlier. Speaking of the procedure, I am still amazed at the assembly line precision of the clinic visit yesterday. Eleven different people had a part to perform, each had a specific function which they did like clockwork and then handed me off to the next person(s). I was in and out including the inevitable paperwork in about two hours. And this clinic had six other patients simultaneous to me for various procedures, with additional ones rotated in and out per their schedule. Heck! They even had a nurse whose specific and only duty was to escort patients from recovery out to their awaiting vehicles to take them home. Much better than the "hurry up and wait" process at the hospital clinic that I went to thirteen years ago for the upper GI.
Johnny/Garry - In retrospect I probably didn't need the anesthesia but heck, Medicare and supplemental insurance paid for it all (I think), so what the heck.

Things were slow and easy in the train shed yesterday. For a change of pace, I assembled a Walther's ranch style house kit from the stock shelf, that will be used in a city suburb already under construction on yet to be photographed part of the layout. I'm stockpiling completed structures now but probably won't get the area actually completed until 2020. In between the times while glue was drying on this structure, I began work on the family cemetery for the homestead site that has been under construction.

Thanks for the well wishes from everyone. My wife thought of me as well, as she fried up some bacon yesterday morning during my period of hunger! My computer is adjacent to the kitchen!

Johnny - Thanks for the videos. Yeah! One has to wonder about folks going to medical school just to look at colons and rectums! But to think about it, some people (anesthesiologists) go just to put people to sleep!
Justin - That photo of the train going under the CSXT line was quite appropriate for what I went through yesterday!
Garry - Regarding the business owner, "if the shoe fits..." Thanks for the laugh.
Gene - I get a video disc when I go back for the follow-up.
Louis - Good to hear from you again. Glad that everything is going well. Don't overdo it as I know that you tend to do.

Everybody have a great day. And if you observe, have a good "Good Friday" and a "Happy Easter" and remember why we celebrate.

Willie

Good morning all!

Cloudy, and 34 to start the day going up close to 50 in Northern Illinois.

Going to try, and get the rest of the old layout down and cleaned up between today, and tomorrow. I hope to start bench work next week. My daughters school is on spring break, and she is going to my parents for the week, and my wife is traveling all next week for work. Its home alone for me all next week, so that is my window to have a bunch of extra time.

Have a great day all,

Mike

Good morning. 40 degrees with clouds. Might get some rain today with an expected high around 50. With the temps we've had, the snow is slowly disappearing from the yard.

Garry - Good photos. Not being familiar with the area, another railroad I've never heard about.

Justin - Really liked your photos. Had to pull up the location on Google Earth. The building was still standing as the date of the image was from 2016.

Willie - I was stockpiling building kits over the years and ended up with more that I could use. I was suprised that I was able to use that blacksmith shop. It had been hanging around for years. Have a few wood craftsman kits and a couple of DPM kits unbuilt still put away. Don't over build My eyes were bigger than my layout.

TGIF - A long week at work. Bowling tonight (and beer drinking) Hope to get some work done on the layout this weekend. Have to search arounf and see if I can find the Woodland Scenics "water" for the pond by the mobile home. I thought I saw it somewhere last year.

Here's a rail photo for today.

Good morning .......

Justin ..... Interesting photos of the demolition. What is the NF&G ? ..... Challenge: make a model of the building in the process of being demolished.

Willie ... I'm glad you liked the joke. There can never be too much humor, and I appreciate anybody's jokes.

Mike .... Enjoy the time for yourself. I normally get a lot of work done on the model railroad when I'm alone at home especially if my wife leaves town without giving me a long list of honey-do's .. LOL

Chet ... I like the photo .. I used to railfan there (Joliet, IL) when I was a teenager with friends who were also interested in trains. ... The P&L was a part of the Illinois Central. History of the line includes gold trains going to Fort Knox.

Terry .... Is the doctor a quack ?

Garry NF&G stands for: Nicholas, Fayette, and Greenbriar. It was a jointly operated branch line between the C&O and New York Central. Later it was my beloved Chessie and Conrail....CSX and Conrail and now well it's just CSX. It's named after the counties it serves. The southern coalfields of West Virginia.

Made it home from work, right on the bow wave of the heavy traffic and the fender benders that come with it.
This is one part of the work life that I will not miss. 6 weeks to go.
Easter and April Fool's Day falling on the same date. I think I'll send the gkids hunting for Easter eggs that I didn't hide. Or maybe use the plastic eggs that ya put the little item inside then glue them shut.
