Good morning to the Crew. Happy Sunday to all. Flo all beverages till noon go on my tab
It’s sunny, 58f degrees and going to a sky high sweet 69! That’s 15 degrees cooler than what the forecast yesterday evening was for today. I see on radar that the front that was supposed to be on top of and north of us is south of us! Mother Nature showing us again that she is unpredictable.
Looking out the doors this morning with the sun bright making the dew glisten really has the lawns looking superb. The rains of the past week show officially 8.31” but my rain gauge was just over 6” really greened up the neighborhood. Even the prairie grass nature lawn directly across the street looks great this morning.
I tried after a 3 day search last night to buy some diesels off of a brass selling site. But the password or email I used last night didn’t work or it’s so old and unused my account is dead. I can call Monday morning. I found good pricing on a Gp30 phase 2, 2 Gp35s phase 2 and a Sd9 phase 1 with 3 of them being unpainted but with the Gp30 already in the Great Northern colors the rest will be painted. The prices are good enoughth that even after I add LEDs, crew, an Tsunami2 decoder and paint it’s only a little more than the ones from Scaletrains and Athearn Genesis. I’d still have to strip and paint those and change out the Scaletrains ESU decoder. But I get the phases I want. These are going to be run on my friends 1965PNW layout. He is ok for a few years of a few of us bringing over our own power while he builds up his roster. This will be my power for a train east to Minneapolis from Seattle via Stevens Pass. 3 geeps on the front end with the Sd9 pushing. It should be 5 on the front end and 2 on the back but thats for 80-100 cars. This train will max out at 24 plus caboose. I figure it will take me a few months to ready these diesels for action.
Looking forward to seeing the niece and her hubby but very leery of the restaurant we are meeting them at 11am
