Which doesn't make sense, does it? But it's like me with the flu shot and pneumonia shot...There has to be more to it. Too many people shared your experience. But was it really covid...or something else? I'm not sure they really know...and those test they used...I'm not sure what to believe. I do know, that being vaccinated ...outside of being in the Military...should be a personal choice, without any punitive sanctions by government. The fear of something going bad on "their" watch resulted in the greatest violation of individual rights and economic disruption this country ever witnessed.
According to the Dr.s test, I was positive for Covid. I had 3 tests before I was negative and could return to work.:( I really only felt bad 4 days but couldn't return to work til I was negative...pissed me off!

Got to give them at least an "E" for effort!

Well, howdy there internet peeps, and those getting Terry's death stare of poly-tics

🥸🤫👿

It's Troy, fresh back from the audiologist (and a safe topic)...

Had the hearing test... he did a good job with the speech recognition, and the speech in noise. Testing me, then telling me what I missed and letting me hear it again...

This particular office orders 4 dozen pairs of the top of the line Oticons at once, and gets a nice price break. That puts the top of the line at a mid-line price point (bit over $5,000 /pair)

He said he'd pin-pointed my tinnitus zone, an made adjustments to the normal program. I put the hearing aids in, after about 15 second I realized the tinnitus was almost non-existant. Down to a 2 out of 10. He said it's because he could up the sounds in the tinnitus areas with more precision than any of the mid line aids I had tried before.

In this case, getting a professional Audiologist, who took the time to listen and test shows real promise.

I'm still in the test drive phase with these. they need some major tweaking in the bluetooth audio for podcasts and music, and a few more programs for things like noisy restaurants. road noise was almost gone, but I haven't tried concrete highway speeds yet. That's always louder.

I go back on Tues next week for tune up #1.

Good evening gang!

Found out a few things more on the CDK global hack. 15,000 dealers and suppliers are still struggling with it. The hackers are still waiting to get the 80 million dollar ransom. Affected dealers cannot even write up an oil change, let alone do any finance, titling, sales or even look up and see it they have a part in stock. GM dealers with CDK (thank goodness not us) have been getting help from GM as all their parts stock info is mirrored by GM through a separate program. I'm not sure how other makes are handling it. I talked to 2 local stores today that have CDK and they are literally dead in the water and have been so since Thursday. CDK thought they had it fixed last Friday, only to have a second part of the hack occur Friday night. Literally, some of the largest stores in our market are being out performed by some of the smallest stores, just because of whose software they use!
Meanwhile our IT department is busting our chops about changing passwords today, go figure!

My brass loco mechanic guy did text me today with a progress report. Both consolidations and the 2-6-6-2 are coming along nicely and should be home soon! I can't wait! I still don't know what it will cost me yet. If I have to sell one of the kids, then so be it.

Obligatory train pic!

L8ter!!

Got to give them at least an

Tuesday, railfanning at Seligman, AZ. The distant train is about two miles away.View attachment 192601
Great shot. Re the further train: North American engineering practice specifies a max change in vertical curvature of 0.1% grade per station ( 100') when in a sag, but 0.2% per station over a crest. I think this allows a train to stack up more slowly going downgrade, but pull more stretched out over the top of a hill/crest. IMO that photo shows it well;

My uncle Leon was born in Seligman too. He only lived fourteen hours, and my maternal grandfather carried him down to Prescott to his rest.

All because he was the dayshift telegrapher in Seligman during the twenties and until about 1935. Left the Santa Fe to open a car dealership in Prescott(Nash) until effectively put out of business on Dec 7, 1941.

Lot's of family history in that little town. . . .

Some movie trivia too: Seligman is the model for the town of "Radiator Springs" in the Disney film "Cars." Just one of several places where the new I-40 bypassed the grand ol' Route 66.

good morning everyone!

- rain (again)
- Airport is running good atm. Yesterday 90mins handling stop because of the weather, todays forecast says thunderstorm in the afternoon.
- around 20 celcius
- damn i want to go back into the trainroom and start working on the H0 scenery, i have some ideas how i could fit a small bridge scene into my layout. i now own 3 different bridges, and i think i could only use the shortest one and maybe even have to cut this one haha.

this one is special. why? Its a HIGH CLASS Airline, called Be0nd, they fly from ZRH to the Maldives direct, and have only business class seats. If iam correct its an old AirBerlin Aircraft.

Good morning from a wet (again) So. Central Wisconsin. More rain over night and it arrived early last night driving me off the porch around 8:15 last night. It’s supposed to be less than a 50% chance of rain the rest of today but I think it needs to stop first! The weather app says it’s currently a light drizzle, I’m calling it a good rain!

The granddaughters softball was fine even though the heat index was 98 at game time. All the bleachers have shade sails above them! I did meet the son in laws dad’s new girlfriend there. A nice lady and cute if I can call a woman in her late 60’s cute. They were a couple in their Sophomore and junior years in high school. The SIL’s dad has had a tough 13 months since his wife passed away and a tougher year before that as she was failing! Then the stepson tried very hard to get all the money the 2 had saved together but the courts ruled in the dad’s favor. I last saw him at Easter and he looks great and has dropped 21#s.

Tonight at 8:15 the grandson has a hockey game and there will be no heat index needed there!

After waking early yesterday due to a 4:15am t-storm that popped up and then spending about 20 minutes in the train room, I never went back yesterday. Maybe today! None of the unfinished weathering commissions are due until August. Running a train or working on the layout holds no interest now!

Normally on Wednesday we head to the Farms Market near the capital building for the fruits, veggies or pastries! The raised beds are producing the veggies and greens I eat so there is no need. I sure don’t need any pastries but I may go anyway and stroll the paths around the lake. I could also check the call boards for the 2 layouts that are operating today to check for openings. I will be going to a session on Friday.

That’s it from here!

Good Morning All. Clear and 80° out there this morning. Yep! 80°, I'm ready for the pool already. Heat advisory today as usual, but it didn't get as hot yesterday as expected, just 96°. No relief in sight yet.

The usual yard debris removal and mowing yesterday, which will continue this morning until it warms up some. The usual pattern is to load my cart with junk, right now it's cardboard and busted-up barn siding; empty it at the dumpster, then load it with branches and brush for the return trip to the brush processing pile. I did start shredding some of it over the weekend for mulch, but I haven't gotten far. Still haven't found my grasscatcher bag for the mower yet, so I will look one more time before ordering a new one.
I ordered a third shade umbrella for the pool yesterday, since I lost some of my most important shade tree cover when the tornado snapped a critical tree. It will be too little too late for this year, as the pool water temperature has now hit 87°. Still cool when it's 95° outside.

A mixed bag out in the train shed yesterday, just couldn't concentrate on one thing for any extended period. Figure painting went OK for a bit and then I added a kickstand to a motorcycle.

I did spend some time pulling boxes out from under the layout that had gotten wet when it rained after losing the train shed roof during the tornado. Some are salvageable, others got emptied. Mostly the contents of the ones I sorted through are fine. I'll have to save the next few incoming Amazon boxes (always overkill anyway), to repack. I didn't find any lost treasures yet, but I am sure that will happen soon.
I also spent about 30 minutes adding more headstones in the cemetery scene. It's more tedious than I ever imagined. But I am close to where I want it to be.

Troy - I am not sure what type of scanners they are using at Sam's. There is a side by side pair of them, with openings about 10' wide and 12' tall. I wasn't sure what they were when I went through. I had my receipt face up in my hand on the handle of the basket like I always do for the clerk to scan. As I approached, I noticed that she was glancing at the device in her hand and waving folks through, which she did for me. The clerk was about 70' downstream from the scanner just before the exit doors, her normal position anyway.
Todd - Agree with letting kids go out and get dirty instead of living in a sterilized world all of the time. I never and still don't use hand sanitizer despite it being encouraged during the recent health scare. Along with extending the deck, make sure that it will support the weight - water weighs a lot.
Joe - I see a new avatar. Did I ever mention that my son-in-law grew up in Marlton (close to Howell by Texas standards) and his parents still live there and own a business in Cherry Hill. He, daughter and grandkids will be there next week for ten days.

Everyone have a great day today, whichever one it is...I have lost track.
