The curve rebuild is getting longer… yep be happy it’s not you. I believe I would have been better off unbolting the 3 modules that make up this section and starting over.

On my Facebook page the consensus is I created an “s” curve that was causing the derailing. I did give up trying to protect the trees and pulp yard. That original RH #8 turnout was to be replaced with a LH one #10 or 12 but since I can’t find the #12 frog, it will be a #10. I have lost about 14” of the siding so using a #10 switch won’t matter that much. Not an issue as this siding can hold 25 cars and 2 diesels. My usual train size is 12 cars, never bigger than 18.

As in the real world, major renovations to overcome existing problems. As in the real world, take breaks and get away from it
for a while if need be. It'll be worth the effort when completed.

Thank you. I used to enjoy track work and have no issue sitting down and creating something new, like #10 or #8 switch. But I dislike the pulling apart of things the previously worked with no issue. Especially when the issue wasn’t obvious to me.

I was worried about the #10 fitting so I made a 10 and another left handed #8. They are on the bench awaiting the additional ties. I only added the circuit board ties and soldered the rails to those. But, I’ve had it for the day.

I’ll come back Thursday and finish them up. Tomorrow I am the fascia painter on a friends layout from 9:30 to around 3 with a 45 minute provided lunch.

🎂Happy Birthday, Karl! 🎈

Well howdy there internet old farts and those chasing the rest of us around the sun...

It's old fart Troy again...

Made a cottage pie tonight for dinner, because the chicken wife got out of the freezer was still hard enough to penetrate aircraft windshields (Gentlemen, thaw your chickens before launching them at test windshields)

Well, today was chase the issue with the cover picture for uploading a book to be printed. Finally figured out that the issue tripping the DPI resolution too small issue was special effects on fonts. Which I can't do anything about. So I uploaded and pushed the print button.

Now it takes about two weeks to print and ship back to me.

After all that got sorted (took most of the afternoon as I chased everything but the issue) I felt the hobby mojo come back on. So I applied paint to little toy soldiers. Nothing great happened. I was just slopping on the brown speedpaint. I managed to paint the crossbows too. A couple more colors to block in, then start picking out the details.

After that, I'll get back to the railroad. I need to get these guys off my hobby desk.

As for the red truck, fire fighters can always be on a ladder trying to convince someone's "supervisor" to come down from a tree.
