i have a Minitrix Turntable (art.nr. 66570), they write locos with a max length of 13cm (sry i know iam from switzerland) are working.

do you think this would also fit for US Diesels?
Is this Ho or N?

If its HO scale:

That only comes out to 5.1 inches according to google conversion calculator.

It might fit some smaller 4 axle locomotives, but I wouldn't know what the dimensions are on those.

I went downstairs and just measured one of my Scaletrains Tier IV Gevos. It comes out to about 10 inches coupler to coupler. So that's about 25.6cm

Minitrix is the Trix line for N.

That is a little short for US diesels. According to a Google search a KATO SD70ACe is about 7.1 inches long or about 18cm. Mine are packed away currently so I cannot confirm.

hey folks!

iam back! well kind of. back at work and the airprot as always busy as hell. winter season!
over the past days i was a lil bit in my train room but had severall projects going.

and i still have something on a shelf sitting and waiting to get used, but, i dont have the layout for. so just one short question for you american specialists. i have a Minitrix Turntable (art.nr. 66570), they write locos with a max length of 13cm (sry i know iam from switzerland) are working.

because, maybe, just maybe i would like to build a module with this tunrtable, like a diesel workshop and stuff on it?

wish you all a good day. and soon there will be another update from my layout ;)

cheers
jay
It would work with N scale US diesel or steam engines with an overall wheelbase at or shorter than the max listed. SD9 and tank type steam engines for example would work.

Good morning, all! A gray, overcast wintery morning at 39 degrees. Suppose to get colder rather than warmer as the day progresses.

Jay - I looked at my Kato turntable which is 16cm (6.3 inches) and my diesels all fit with room to spare. So, I suspect that yours being approximately an inch shorter should work for most American diesels. I can turn a GG1. However, stream locos are a different matter. 4-8-4 Mountain with tender is a no go.
Willie - forecasters in Houston are saying the Dallas area could see 8 to 12 inches. Us rain.
Len - Beautiful Nacogdoches for Cheyenne?

...and just to make life interesting, UK, US and Continental Europe outline N scales are three different scales....
Well, UK vs US/Europe. Both US and Europe use 1:160 while the UK uses 1:148. But its all on the same 9mm track.

To confuse things more, in Japan non Shinjansen bullet train models are 1:150 but Shinkansen are 1:160. This is because they try and fit the scale to the track. Most non bullet trains in Japan are Cape Gauge narrow gauge. There are some exceptions amongst some private railways and some even more remote exceptions on some remote JR lines.

So I'm still working on the wall art. It's 45" long so I had to lay it out on the kitchen countertop. I also had to tape four 14 X 8.5 pieces of paper together. The locos are much bluer then in the photo I posted. I'm not sure why this is? Now I have to make the frame.

That's pretty cool.

I did something like this for a layout backdrop. I had some (elongated) countryside photo from Japan that I blew up to be 8' long. I didn't use special photo paper but did use a color laser printer on heavier white paper to print it out, carefully cut or fold the pieces, and put together in one large one. I could have done it better as I used the magic tape instead of a less obvious way of joining but it ended up looking pretty good.

Good Morning All!

33F @ 89% with partly. More clouds than sun so far.

Wasn't gonna post -

Hope none of you are even close to LA. Santa Anita winds are hitting 100Mph and wildfires all around. 10K Acres so far if you don't know.

Be safe!

My son lives in Pasadena, in old town. They can see the smoke. They got an AirBNB in another part of town, so that the Pugs could breathe. The fire would have to cross a major freeway to get to their house. I never imagined that there would be fire that near to the urban sprawl.

Good evening all.
The plans for today went haywire.
I went back to bed after breakfast.
Made lunch and left most of mine.
Fell asleep on the couch and woke at 5.00pm
Dawn plied me with hot rum toddies
Made a light snack.
Dawn is still hungry (naturally) as the snack is not a proper dinner.
See what I can make for her.

Without getting political, the main reason fires can get that close is because all the trees and brush have been allowed to overgrow everything in the name of helping the environment.
