With all of Troy’s nerve issues I’ve started seeing ads like this on this site.

Well, howdy there internet peep and those seeking donuts

It's Troy again...

Ugh... the brown magic bean juice this morning is terrible.

I used up all of a bag of the good Volcanica dark roast. And for three days of coffee at home, then almost two weeks travelling, I don't want to open a fresh bag of the good stuff.

So, I thought I could try the bag of medium roast I've got in the pantry... I was going to give it away, but this emergency set in....

So I made a pot of Medium roast this morning.

Not good. Blech! Even with creamer and honey.

I may go hit the grocery and find a sample bag of any dark roast. Even Maxwell house.

Spent some time last evening chatting with the AI overlord to see if we could get my idea for a new mystery book plotted out. This one involves drag queens, a corrupt auditor, weresharks, and the recurring conniving politician...

The AI was very helpful once I fed it the main backstory of the 7 books prior to this one.

Now, I have to remember to write the book I've already begun before tackling this new one.

Good morning folks, 33 here with a seriously red sky this morning. Supposed to hit 65 today. The back is much improved and putting some good coffee into myself [lifts cup at Troy]. Goal for today is to trim the beard and take LadyC for Lunch/Dinner to make up for missed Valentine's Day. Cloudflake has another favorite forum closed down, I really detest that service.
Anyway, hope you all have a good day!

I’m guessing that because it says “assembled” they’re trying to differentiate it with US made guns. From what I could research Sig started making them in the U.S. as well in the middle late 80s so they were made in both places. I don’t know but it’s possible that parts made in the USA were also used in German made guns (and vice versa).

SIG-Sauer started importing German made parts for their handguns to be assembled here in the mid-90s and later. That is when the proof marks and date codes started disappearing from the frame, slide, and barrels of the P220 and P226 and P228 pistols. Even though they said Made in W. Germany, (until '95, then, Made in Germany after). All of these pistols were still fully made in Germany, but could not be proofed as separate pieces because they were not being exported as assembled pistols. Hence the missing proof marks, lack of the three serial numbers, and no date code.

The only part serial numbered was the frame per US law. SIG-Sauer US assembled these parts and called it good. Only collectors and purists noticed this and did not like it one bit. Later, in the 90s, SIG-Sauer started manufacturing slides from stainless steel here in the US and mating those slides with German made frames. Those were stamped Frame Made in Germany on the right side of the frame. Still without any proof marks or datecode at all. We liked that even less.

Then in the 2000+, SIG-Sauer started wholy manufacturing the entire line in the US when SIG-Sauer was put our of business by the German authorities.

And that is why I do not purchase SIG-Sauer handguns without the datecode, proofmarks, and having triple serialized numbering on the frame, slide, and barrel.

The Made in W. Germany roll mark was authorized for use by West German manufacturers until 1995 after enough static was created by western German manufacturers that did not want their quality products to be confused with the shoddier products produced in East Germany before re-unification was made formal in 1990. It was authorized for use for five years from the date of re-unification.

We don’t really have a cross country skiing culture and the guns they shoot are wussie target 22s. Not a real man’s gun. ;)

It's not really a matter of wussie .22 caliber. It's how well you can put a 4mm bullet on a target at 50 yards after strenuous physical exercise of cross country skiing. .22LR is cheap and plentiful to practice with. Some of those wussie .22LR competition rifles are upwards of $5K starting price. Walther, Hammerli, and others all offer high-end Olympic grade rifles for use in these competitions.

Good morning all you bean experts and not! 41f degrees heading to 63.

I’m home slept in my own bed last night and slept well. Not sure what today will bring but sure hope Terry feels better. The 4 hour drive home from Des Moines yesterday was all me. She had the chills and fever about an hour into the trip and still was miserable last night. I’m not as fast as Ms. Speedy but I have driven this stretch of i80 I bet well over 100 times and east bound yesterday was empty and unusual for Iowa the State patrol seemed to be missing

She’s awake, says feels ok, slept good!

Be well

Morning all,

48° and clear with a high of 72° later. If we hit it it will tie the record for the date.

As predicted, no trains yesterday. Wife wanted to watch the oldest granddaughter do the KofC basketball shootout and then we took the boy shopping as he needs new clothes for job interviews according to his mother. By the time we got home, it was too late to get into the train room.

Only have an eye appointment later as I'm off for the holiday and on vacation next week.

Have a good day all!

Long distance driving is not fun once you reach this demographic! :) The wife, daughter, and I drove down to Birmngham some time back. Like a damn fool I cannonballed it. Never again. Damn near killed all of us. I had just bought this fancy Chrysler Pacifica all decked out, rear seat entertainment, Thule cargo pod, the works! Unfortunately, 14 hours in anything is just a bit much. I've always been in a tearing hurry to get there and start the vacation. Now that I don't work, I heed to adjust my driving habits and take a day or three so we aren't so spent when we get where we're going.

Good Morning All. Happy President's Day. Foggy and 43° here on the ranch; headed for a high in the mid-70's. Likewise until Friday when cooler more normal temperatures prevail.

Another ho-hum Sunday yesterday, church, bed-linen laundry and puttering around the house. Wife made it home safely and I cooked smoked sausage and sauerkraut for supper. Today will be just as exciting although it may be dry enough to do some stuff outside.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I continued working on the "Learning Kit" from DPM. I am going to use it as intended, as a small town auto mechanic's shop, Clifton Motor Co. The kit didn't come with coping so I retrieved some from the detail's stash from some leftover stuff from another kit. The wall joints were just too sloppy as assembled and they needed a coverup.

Then it was on to applying the dry transfer wall signage.

Added the roof and some roof details.

It's currently in the paint booth with a coat of dull coat applied. Further weathering and a few dabs of paint on the window sills is next, before installing the windows.

Tom O - Hope that you and Terry are feeling better soon. I have noticed that since Covid, the Highway Patrol is conspicuously absent from the Texas highways as well. Didn't see any on the Louisiana highways on our last three trips through that state either. We're just the opposite, as I am the Mr Speedy on our trips. Wife pointed out on our last vacation trip that the "spy-tracking" software that she and the kids have on their phones, recorded that one phone (hers presumably) traveled at 92 mph part of the way. I have that software uninstalled from my phone as I feel that it is a privacy concern.
Swal - My wife really can't provide any more tax information than the AI info that I posted yesterday. She just isn't familiar with the H&R Block online software, and has been retired for four years now. She never did a QFT in her career either. As a side note to your comment, H&R Block does not provide health care insurance to any of their preparers.
Lonnie - Nice start to the switching layout.

Everyone have a great Monday.

Update from yesterday for Louis:

Got a half-size game in at the store. May have captured a new player thanks to the demo game.

He ran my Abyssal army with the Mini-StayPufts. I ran my 'Eavy Metal orcs....

Stay puft has a message for the orcs!

Played on a 3ft x 4ft space due to lower points.

The orcs charged the Slimer-demons... They still lost, but their buddies drove Slimer away in the end.

Angry orcs on angry wild boars charged mini-Puft.

Still need to do some touch ups on the speakers, but my orcs have class, and only bring Klipsch speakers to their desert music shows! (Hence the copper cones in the speakers)

The Talking Head's Magic 8-Ball says we might break a record on Wednesday this week. 74° is what they forecast.

Good morning gang!

35° and fog, warm air passing over snow cover type fog, with a daytime high of 45°.

Other than cleaning and laundry and the Daytona 500 nothing happened yesterday. Almost fell asleep during the final 3rd of the race. 3 Toyotas got to the lead, then ran 3 abreast until the final 15 laps or so. Then they slowed to pace trying to save fuel, and let no one pass. What a snooze fest! Still they had to pit for fuel and that's where the action returned. I tuned in to watch an actual race, not an economy run.

Tonight, the mid-month bill revue, then maybe trains, or a cold adult beverage or 2!

Tom, I hope Terry feels better.
