I was trolling through the marketplace on Fecesbook, and thought I'd mention that if everybody's son had really just died like the scams say, the funeral homes would be overwhelmed.

I spent way too much time trying to fix my personal page under my name on FB yesterday. I don’t do death notices, I don’t type full sentences in highlighted bolden fonts. FB says I was cloned and said tighten your security. Which I rechecked and had every thing checked the way FB suggested. But cloned anyway! So changed my password again and seemed ok at 1pm. At 7:30 last night started getting texts from friends it started again. I solved that, deleted my personal account.

Meta Ai help chat says no need to delete but I had had enough.

It didn’t affect my weathering and layout page. Thankfully as for years that is where many of my new weather commissions came from. But now it’s only established regulars who I text with.

Good morning from my section of the world. 21f degrees but feels like 8.

I’ve tried dark mode on my IPadPro and didn’t enjoy it. I played with it here since Bob added the option and it’s still not for me. But glad you users who enjoy it are using it. Options are great

The Super duper Bowl will be on in the background maybe. I have no interest in the teams, Terry will watch because she does! I have more interest in watching the 1/2 time show this year more than ever. I predict the biggest viewing audience ever for the 1/2 time show this year. I can think of only a few that were memorable with MJ’s being #1. It’s so funny how many red hats do not know Puerto Rican’s are citizens of the US.

Hockey on campus at 2, the grandson I was just informed plays at 7 but away so that is a streaming service called Live Barn! So I might split screen with the Football game on 1/2 and the grandson on the other

Be well

Good morning. Dark theme is an option now.

29°F here heading for 47°F and will keep pushing up until Tuesday before returning to normal temps for this time of year, in the low 40°Fs.

Nothing going on here today, but I might make it to the train room later. Apple pie turned out great as always. It's hard to screw up Mrs. Calender's frozen pie as long as you don't burn it.

I'll go through Gunbroker again today to see if anything new has posted and check selling prices on what I'm currently watching to get a feel for what things are selling for these days. I wish I still had my extensive collection I had back in the 90s. It would be worth quite a bit of money today from what I've seen on line. Today, the collection is more modest with (some) more modern models, but starting to get scarce and heading for collectability. Those that aren't are still going up in price due to inflation.

I'm one of those who think you better buy it now if you can afford it because it's only going to be more expensive down the road in a short time.

I bought a Walther P99 MI5 limited edition in 1999 for $900. Today, if you can find one, they can easily fetch upwards of $4,000. They planned to produce 1,000 models, but Eon Productions got bent out of shape about the 007 connection without licensing, and production stopped at a little over 700 models released. Those 700 models are tucked away in gun safes everywhere and no one is selling.

I did actually find the exact same firearm I had purchased years before in a Gunbroker auction about three years ago. I think that sold for around §3,800. I wrote and told the seller I had once owned that same firearm as the original owner purchased from Earl's Repair Service. One of only three Walther importers in the US.

Good Morning All. Mostly cloudy and 54°, headed up into the upper 70's later on. No real change in our forecast. Not often that my temperature is higher than Terry's at this time of day.

I had a lot of trouble getting into the forum this morning. Got the above message and several others indicating that I had "timed out". Made me forget some of the things I was going to post. Although that may be a good thing to some readers!

Ached last night after working in the yard most of the day. Feel fine this morning. Good to get the muscles in working order again. Saw parts of a couple of interesting skiing and snowboarding events in the Olympics yesterday, which I hadn't seen before. Nothing that I could ever imagine myself doing! More of the same outdoor stuff today. I'll get lassoed into grating cheese this morning so that my wife can make her homemade Spinach-Artichoke dip for her pre-game show later on. I will not be watching any of the "big game" activities today, never have! Even when I still watched football, this game was never held my interest.

Did a couple of things out in the train shed yesterday. Ran some more trains of course. Then some infrastructure work. I got under the layout and replaced some 20 gauge buss wires with 16 gauge wiring. It is in a place where I ran out of 16 gauge when originally building the layout and I was in a hurry to run trains on the newest section. The main wire from the power source to the terminal block was 16 gauge, but from there to the next two terminal blocks was not so robust. This has been on the project list for quite a few years. Didn't have time to run any trains on the rewired blocks yet, that's for today. Getting up off the floor was surprisingly easier that I had anticipated.

Karl - I agree that the train shed is the most therapeutic place to be.
Hughie - Life does seem to have a way of interfering with model railroading!
Kevin - Glad to read that the recovery is going well. Take care.

Everyone have a great day today. I'll be manning the grill later.

Good Morning All!
37F @ 90% overcast. Should be about 48F @ 1500

I have been a fan of Seahawks since expansion. Over the years, I was a weekend warrior, if it had a football, I watched. Just to think of all that time I lost! Now days, usually only catch the playoffs and sometimes a game or 2 before. Ya, the SB is pretty much a party, get to talk to people ya haven't seen in awhile, eat and be merry. It still has a lot of hype, some good, some not so good. We just want a good game. Fav 1/2 show is still U2, with Prince and MJ following. Oh, and there have been some p.ss poor shows to. Bad enough to turn the boob tube off.

I ate a Kid's Meal at McDonalds yesterday. His Mother was pissed!

I guess my computer is set for night mode since this site defaulted to that. I didn't know that it is and looked around in WIN11 PRO to find that setting, but haven't found it yet.
catching up, so sorry if this was replied to already

See https://www.howtogeek.com/743510/how-to-enable-dark-mode-on-windows-11/ for picking a dark theme, which also has steps for picking a light theme on your computer.

You can also set a dark theme directly in your browser via its settings. So if for example, your system setting is light, but your browser is dark, you'd probably still see this website dark even though the default is System. You'd want your browser to choose a theme based on system settings too I suppose.

still annoying.
That’s definitely putting it mildly. Hopefully, it gets resolved soon.
The joy of Real and Fake Sciatica at the same time.
I hope you feel better.

Watching Jim Zorn play was time well spent!

Good afternoon to all.............

I read on another forum ( one that Ken Patterson has connections to ) and there was a discussion going on about using foam board as a base for your layout. As most know, Ken Pattersons layout caught on fire due to a short circuit. I guess Ken finally got his 3 minutes of fame although probably not for the reason he would have liked. I have never been a fan of Kens construction methods or wiring practices. What was not visible on the finished layout was done, in my opinion, in a sloppy manner. And of course he was an idiot for leaving trains running in his basement while he went upstairs to make a cup of what ever he drinks and then smelling smoke.
The point being discussed was a lot of folks have decided to quite using the foam board due to it being flammable. Ken even said he was NOT going back on his layout using fb as a base. For me a minimal use of fb for scenery might be ok but not as a base. And of course some folks say well plywood burns too and it does but I don't think it will grow into a large fire nearly as quick as fb and should resist bursting into flame much more than fb will.
Each to their own here but this does deserve some thought. I thought it deserved being mentioned. While we only run 12 to 16 volts with low amps, a short on the rails can get hot enough to melt those plastic ties and the shell of a plastic loco. The use of circuit breakers is very important and good wiring practices are paramount.
None of us want to read about someone loosing their layout and or home due to a fire caused by the very thing we love, a model train layout.

It is a very nice day here. I need to replace the blades on my mower and some tree limbs need cutting but I'll probably put that off for work in the train room. I'm on a mission to get all turnouts in place and operational on the upper level portion of my layout ASAP.

I cooked up some Italian Lintel soup last night using a recipe from Carrabba's Italian restaurant. I've made this before and it is GREAT.
I also made a squash casserole using 3 cans of Margaret Holms canned squash with vidalia onions and stove top stuffing for chicken. Cook the stuffing per directions, add shredded cheese and mix everything well, then in the oven, with a lid, for 45 minutes. This is quick and easy and GOOD.

I stay logged into e-bay and have an icon that comes up on my browser. I just click the icon and it takes me directly to "My E-bay". No signing in or other crap. This also makes it very easy to browse and spend money. 🤑🤑

Oh well, so much for my opinions, shopping habits and cooking practices.

Have a great afternoon......John
