I'm buying a treadmill tomorrow. After the age of 60 your chances of getting insulin resistance are good. They say exercise such as walking after eating will let your muscles draw out sugar from your blood stream. I already do a lot of walking in the summer but almost none in the winter months. So, starting tomorrow I'll start walking inside. Swal

I'd get belly cramps if I walk after I ate. But I have lost 30lbs by walking at least 20min a day and reducing sugar and carbs. But, yeah, winter is hard; prefer outside walks or hikes.
 
Sad news today for us "baby-boomers". A longtime favorite from childhood, Minute Maid frozen juices are going to be discontinued. My mom lived by them.
I love Curling, one of the very few sports that I can still bear to watch.
I remember the frozen orange juice. Falls under the category of comfort food. Container fits nicely in the milk crate size refrigerator freezer.
 


My last eGFR value was 65 the very low range of normal. Something has to change in my eating and exercise habits.

Good evening.... My brother seen a robin yesterday in his tree by the house. Said part is he'll probably a popsicle on Saturday with highs around 3 degrees and -25 windchill.

I was sitting at my comm table in front of the window yesterday and six cardinals landed near the tree and brush about six feet from the window. They had their feathers all puffed up to keep warm and were hopping about looking for food. I think there was four females and two males in the bunch. They don't stay still for long in these temps.

That's the largest group of cardinals I've ever seen outside of the Basilica of Saint Peter.

Just start! Every little bit makes a difference. Build your endurance and your core, to improve your balance and cardiac fitness.

I'm going on 67 this year and I have a free Black membership at Planet Fitness, with my supplemental (part G) plan. I have no excuses not to go.

I'm in there every other day rotating my cardio workout on the treadmill, Elliptical, and the stair climber before I start lifting. I am still able to do a 4 minute plank and 8-10 dead hang pullups. I didn't get there overnight. You just have to be disciplined and take it slow to start. I don't do any deadlifts or squats anymore. It's not good for the back or knees at our age. I really don't want to hurt myself anymore either. I'm 5'8" and 171#, but unfortunately I've shrunk about 1.5".

I've also worked up to being able to do a set of 3 reps on this supine bench, with three 45# plates on each side. The bar weighs 10#, so that's 145# on each arm.

Marlin I already do a lot of walking on the golf course. I walked 5 miles on the New Haven rail trail this year for the first time. I do not do any walking in the winter especially this year with the single digit weather. Swal

Put a screen on the wall in front of where you'll be on the treadmill, and play this video to keep from getting bored:

Evening folks and happy Friday, currently 58 and clear. Got all the way up to 82 today and felt fantastic! Ended up laying some primer down on a couple loco shells I've been working on, planning to go into town tomorrow to grab some paint and glue. Not sure what else the weekend has planned for me yet.
 
We ended up with a few hours of light snow. None of it stuck so the ground is wet. Temps are going to plummet tonight, so I am glad we're not driving tonight. Tomorrow may be interesting with high probability of black ice. We're not planning to go anywhere tomorrow.
