Tom, I experienced fun and games with UPS last week, but chose not to vent here. Three packages were supposed to be delivered, and 2 of them required my signature. The two packages were to be delivered Tuesday--never showed. Updated delivery day to Wednesday. No show again. Delivery day updated to Thursday. All three showed up in the same truck. One of the packages was 2nd day air, and it was originally supposed to have been delivered on Monday. I also lost three days work, as I had to stay home and wait for the packages.
I've gotten to the point where I really hate UPS. Now when I get a notice that a package is coming via UPS, I re-route it to the local UPS store. I'd rather pick it up after work than play roulette with receiving it.
Give my best regards to Angela regarding her ankle.
I'll second that! Louis, you better take some daily vitamins until she gets back on her feet if you want to keep everything up to date house-wise!

Finally success at last with Windoze 11 and Decoder-Pro. After down loading DP and the latest version of Java into the new puter, DP would not communicate through the Keyspan adapter to my NCE system. Drivers were the problem but everywhere I turned either the drivers I downloaded would not install or some of the sites recommended by others would not even download. Tripp Lite is the manufacturer and the driver on their page is a non starter. Goofing around on my other puter (Win 10) and Googling I came across Eaton. Tripp Lite is part of Eaton and way down on Eaton's page was a link to Eaton products drivers. I found there the correct drivers, downloaded them onto a flash drive, took them to the other puter and installed them from there. Now Decoder Pro works as it should with Win 11. Talk about reaching around you butt to scratch your elbow!!

What really is amazing to me is that this success came last night after drinking several Twisted Teas. Previous stone sober attempts had resulted in failure.

Thank you, I will pass that on to her as well.

Vitamins... I'll need some coke, and I don't mean soda!

Forget about it, I'll do my best and let God worry about the rest. White powder "NOS" would kill me at this point in my life.

Stuff happens!

My little Angel broke her ankle yesterday. There was no slip or trip, one wrong step and down she went. The doctor said the x-ray showed it was not a bad break. Is there a good break?

I never realized how much she does every day. Until I tried to do it all!

We are going to watch the Redskins host the Eagles, I can handle that.
Sorry to hear this Louis.

Sending my thoughts and prayers your guys way for a speedy recovery!

Good Afternoon/Evening Everybody!

It was a cold 12 degrees today here in Western MA. I made spur of the moment plans yesterday evening to head north to the Vermont Country Store in Rockingham VT today for some Christmas shopping. My mother joined me and I decided that I’d include a few stops during the day which included each spot I’m modeling or considering modeling for my GMRC build.

Here’s a few of the photos I took:

Chester Depot

To my surprise I caught the 1 PM departure of the Polar Express train from Chester Depot. It was the first time I have seen those beautiful GMRC/VTR coaches in over 20 years.

It was quite a site to see and made me miss my childhood days of riding on those coaches alongside my grandfather. That’s all the proof I need to know that building this GMRC layout is the right choice:)

Good evening.
I thought I'd remind everybody that has a smart phone to double check to make sure their cloud backup settings are configured the way they want. I had to get a phone earlier this week to replace a broken one, and the cloud backup turned itself on after I toggled it off, and shared nearly 200GB of data between the phone and the cloud, and all of my devices.

Christmas movies and TV shows... There are too many for me to list them all.

The old TV shows bring back some of my happiest memories. The nostalgia associated with Christmas is unparalleled.

From "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer", "Charlie Brown Christmas", "Frosty the Snowman" to "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" and more. I can still remember the joy of watching those shows with the people who raised me. I was the happiest kid in the world!

Here is a more recent memory from Christmas 2018 that came up on my One Drive "On this day December 22, 2018"

Morning all,

Last day of work before Christmas.

Currently 44° going for a cloudy high of 52°. Spent the day yesterday taking the grandkids to a jump room and the bowling. Geez, bowling has gotten expensive, but they had fun.

I've got work to do over the couple of bonus Christmas days as I have an apple tree to at least take down and I need to prune the peach tree. 6 to 8 feet of summer growth makes it hard to keep the tree smaller. It's a Loring peach that will, (if the blossoms don't freeze), produce fairly heavy and is self pollinating. I'm not kidding with the growth rate, but I need to be careful as it on the 2nd year wood that produces the fruit. The remaining stump of the tree that broke off has sent shoots that got to 10" after the daughter cut it in September after my 2nd surgery. I'll let it attempt to start over as I really love me some peaches, and for now it's easier than digging up the stump.

Louis: Take care of your wife. Hope she gets better soon.

Karl: Drivers are often a big issue with Winblows since Winblows 10. We have a fueling key and reader system at the 2 city owned fueling locations that take an act of will (and the need to stop at the bar afterward) to get loaded.

Good morning from Wisconsin.

Louis take care of your angel! Wishing her good thoughts on the recovery!

It is 32f degrees this morning heading to 36! Maybe a rain/snow mix around noon.

The son texted yesterday and asked if there were any decent places to stay in DesMoines, Iowa. Gave him a few suggestions and said we will be there in 4 hours. I thought he meant DesMoines, not here. A couple worn out travelers that left Wednesday and were both tired of hotels arrived at 7pm. Great to have them here early.

The Alabama crew just left at 6am. They wanted to catch early breakfast at a place about 70 minutes north of here in the Wisconsin Dells. It was good to see them. The house is quiet as everyone else is still sleeping.

The brother will call when they are an hour out from landing. The son and son in law will drive to the airport to pick them up. He thinks arrival will be noonish…

Yesterday’s open house was a success. There were 60 here at 4pm when Santa finally showed for the kids. Santa does know everyone’s names! There were people coming and going from noon to 7. As the last folks left the driveway the son pulled in. Terry considers it a success based on how much food she has left over. There are always leftovers as by golly you have to have enough to comfortably feed everyone! It’s how many leftovers determines success or not. Hey, I just nod my head up and down. I just know if anyone left hungry or unhappy it was their own fault. I also know the bar needs some re-stocking, especially since the son and girlfriend finished off the last 4 Spotted Cows with Terry. It’s a Wisconsin craft beer that’s only sold in the state! The son in law said the bartender left a list of things needed to re-stock.

Medical today! Me at 9 and my sister at 1

Today! Another crazy day. But not here! The daughter’s studio will be the setting for the Christmas sit down dinner, party and bonus hand outs. We had another great year and while the party will be the smallest (29 total, including our 9) since the 1990’s when Terry and I started the property management company we still have 4 working the property, 2 in the office for us plus 4 that we partner with the logging! Just a small no kids bash. We have a great big surprise for each couple coming!

What a great season it is…

Enjoy your day

Good Morning All. Cloudy and 55°, on the way up to the mid-60's. Same forecast still, with possible thunderstorms tomorrow and Thursday. Still staying in the 60's mostly.

Had a good time at the family Christmas gathering yesterday. My brother installed a simple G scale garden railroad in one corner of his yard, so he was showing that off. I have pictures, but haven't had time to retrieve them from the phone. Bonus: Yesterday was also his 68th birthday.

Since it's windy and cloudy today, I'll have to add a layer of clothing if I do any tasks outside today. We'll see what the day brings.

Nope, no train shed time yesterday; I might get some time today, but not again until Thursday or Friday. The sacrifices that I make for holidays!;)

Terry - Sorry to read about the latest from UPS. They're actually the best delivery service for us out here. No hassles, no problems ever!

Kinda reiterates what we were posting a couple of weeks ago.

Be aware that a Loring Peach is a hybrid from grafting two other varieties. So the shoots are from the root donor. The only way to tell if they are going to be any good is to let some of them grow and produce. If nothing else, you'll have another tree with pink flowers in the spring.

Today is Festivus Day for all who have no holiday.

Everyone have a great Monday.

Yeah where I’m at UPS is ok too. None of the delivery services is “bad” and I don’t remember the last mistake with my stuff.
Were pretty lucky too. All our delivery services are excellant.

The only time we have issues is with USPS when stuff gets routed to the black hole of Chicago, then all bets are off as to the time it will take to finally arrive. Luckily it doesn't happen that often. Most of our stuff is routed thru ST. Louis.

Good morning everyone!

Its currently a unseasonable warm 37 degrees, supposedly going up to a high of 43. A rain/snow mix for later, but supposed to be light.

Today is the final push to be ready for Christmas. All the big things have been done. Just some present wrapping and whatever last minute running for the things we forgot. Always seems to happen every year. You all know that OH, S--T moment! Not anticipating it this year, but...

Think were going down to drive thru the festival of lights later tonight and get dinner out at some restaurant.

have a safe day everyone!
