Good morning everyone. 32 and cloudy. Should clear up later, and tomorrow's going to be nice. I'm taking the day off tomorrow.

Clint, TexHobo, Patrick, David Trussrod, Posse, RobotsWalk, Tom, Roofintrask, Chad, Flip, Wheeler, Jim, and anyone I missed - thanks for the likes and comments from my last post (last Wednesday, I think).

Well, MOH and I are back from a weekend trip to the big KC. We go up there a few times a year, and one of those times is between Thanksgiving and Christmas to do some gift shopping. Always a fun getaway. Any of you familiar with a huge sports store called Scheels? They've got a 65-foot tall ferris wheel INSIDE the building at the Overland Park location.!! I love ferris wheels. Costs a dollar to ride.

Family was over for Thanksgiving, and SIL saw "his" business, the Outpost, for the first time. He loved it. Still waiting for the ModelTrainStuff order to come in with some people and vehicles to put on the layout. Some of them will go with the Outpost. Here's another look at it:

Have a good day everyone.

beady: Nice picture of the Pere Marquette 1225. That was the engine that inspired "The Polar Express". Its last surviving sister Pere Marquette 1223 is on static display at my original home town of Grand Haven, MI. As they do Christmas trains with it, were you able to ride?
Not yet. Kind of pricey, and tickets sell out fast. Btw, for $500 they'll teach you to run it.

I use it all! The CP car was airbrushed with Testor's Dullcote, but if you want to keep fumes down their "Acryl-Flat" works very well. The weathered black was Floquil, but there are acrylic equivalents. You might want to consider water colors. I have taught weathering for years with Iwata's Com Art weathering set. The paints are airbrush ready, easy to spray, and will wash off if you don't like your results. There's not much overspray either. I've weathered cars at the kitchen table. Here's the set. it contains some washes that go on very light, so you have to take your time but the results are very good.

Water color may be a good choice for couple of paperboard buildings I need to paint. It would be naturally flat.

Good Morning All. Mostly clear and 35°. Getting tired of ham and turkey leftovers and I have the remains in the freezer for a temporary break. Tonight it's just going to be real Texas beef tacos for supper.

Good Day Flo, I'll take some blueberry pancakes with a handful of bacon.

Boy, I sure hope that I can make some time for the train shed today. The citizens out there must really fell neglected after five days of minimal contact with me. Hopefully someone has been re-stocking the bars while I have been away.
It's time for me to focus on what I want to concentrate on for my next project to be. I still have to add interiors to two structures posted recently, but that's strictly a workbench project that can be relocated when needed. I am looking at eight 2' x 16' layout areas with little or no scenery, a few 2' x 2'-4' areas in the same condition. Many of these areas have some structures in place and all have main lines and sidings in place for operations. I do need to make and add trees all over the place. Have plenty of scenery materials on hand to do anything. One thing that I really want to tackle is one of the two laser-cut wood structures that's just waiting for my attention. OR I could just straighten up the layout room.

Ken - The trees and water tower added a lot of extra interest to the warehouse scene. Nicely done.
David - Great to see you posting more regularly lately. Not good about the roof though.
Alan - Nice tip regarding the water-color pencils. My wife just started using them and I will have to give them a try. Thanks.

Cyber Monday is today. Another day that I don't celebrate. I prefer product in my hands (mostly) when I turn over my money.
Everybody have a great day.

Oooops! Forgot to "Post Reply" about 2 1/2 hours ago.

Good morning from cold and snowy Salt Lake area. 31F at 10am. Was low 20s early this morning. It snowed most of last week. Good 18" + in the backyard. Luckily most of the days were cold and drier so the snow is light and fluffy. One of the days was a bot wetter with heavier. Front yard has less due to blowing wind.

Yesterday DHL delivered the KATO Twighlight Express Mizukaze luxury train. I'll try to get some pics when I try it out. Did not get the box opened until this morning. (Amazon Japan ships international with DHL, which is like 3 days or sometimes less). Normally DHL does not delievr on Sunday but with the holiday delivery season in full swing I think they are doing Sundays.

Need another hot coffee Flo! Black straight up!

Got to work this morning. The commute was a nasty sloppy disaster. Snow is still coming down. 2nd wave is to start at 3 pm into tomorrow morning and stop at 7 am.

Winter is here for sure.

I will be leaving early today so that's good. Hope to get the fire going at home in the o'l fireplace and get the house all toasty so I don't burn any oil in the furnace.

May start ripping up carpet in #3 bedroom tonight. Then I can get the transition of the moves from bedroom #2 to bedroom #3 done. Then install shelving system above where the grid layout will be which in turn will also house the LED lights as well. I am only doing this on 2 walls I think but may change that to 3 walls. Hope to start some grid work this weekend. We shall see. Picture will be coming.

Ya'll have a good day and be safe in this weather.

James

Howdy, everybody. ....

We had visitors here from MI and OH for Thanksgiving. Yesterday, we went to Nashville again to be with family there. Shelley's Mom's health condition remains very poor.

That's the only way to have a relationship with whiskey!

Beady - there's no iron like old iron and up close makes it even better. great photo!

The Mrs. and I have been to Bronners. That place is amazing. She's been throwing "hints" around about
going back  Maybe in the spring.

Beady & Max.... We go to Frankenmuth during some of our trips to Michigan. We typically go to Bronners after a big all-you-can-eat chicken dinner at Zehnders.

Beady ..... 1225 looks great.

Good morning all. Just dropping in for a quickie as we are headed for the mall. Another beautiful day here in H-Town though a little windy.
I did get a little train time in yesterday while the conductor waited on packages to be delivered. She is worried about "porch pirates". Later

Good afternoon - came home from work early today to be here when the furnace repairman arrives. The furnace has been dysfunctional since last Monday, they came out to fix it on Wednesday but had to order some parts; and today was the earliest I could get on their schedule after the Thanksgiving holiday. Not a major crisis since we mainly use our woodstove for heating. Except that now, our supply of dry firewood is dwindling and it's been raining the past 2 days. So I hope the repairman gets here soon!

Thanks for all the 'likes' and comments on my negative-space area - Robot, Johnny, Phil, Patrick, Jerome, roofintrash, James, Jim, Beady, Ray, Justin, Joe, David, and Willie. Hope I didn't miss anybody.

Not much else going on here, be back later...

Well I made it back home this morning at 6:00AM. I drove straight through with a few stops along the way. Fast enough to stay ahead of the storm. I did hit a lot of rain in Virginia and parts of Maryland and Pennsylvania. I left Etowah NC @ 1:00pm lol. So I slept about 3 hours then got up and returned the rental car in the snow storm. Home now... cozy next to the fireplace. I put 2,288 miles on the rental with 43.6 mpg not bad! I got to meet up with Jerome and Terry in Spencer NC at the North Carolina Transportation Museum (the old Southern RR yard with round house) Good time by all. Got a late lunch afterwards. Good full day! It was a great place to meet up with Jerome and Terry! I will post some pics later when I get them downloaded. So tonight I will just relax and prepare for tomorrow's crazy weather and going back to work.

Some pics from our trip to Spencer NC...as mentioned.....
