Good morning. It's 64° and sunny this morning, going to 81. Looks like Wednesday will be the warm one here, going to 90°, then it will cool down again. Looking ahead, August isn't that far down the road.

I spent more time on the layout yesterday, than I have all summer. I started doing an inventory of passenger equipment now that I finished the freight cars.

Well, it's off to Costco, running low on paper products

Joe

RB posted on Big Blue that he was on his way to the ER with possible gangrene - you guys may not know.

He posted the same info here. We all hope his problem isn't that bad and that he gets well and returns home very soon.

Hello everybody. ... I just returned from a quick trip to CincInnati.

Regarding Jeff Running Bear ... News has been posted in Elliot's DIner in the MR forum by David Parks who lives near Jeff.

Quoting David's post: ...... " I have positive news on Jeff. He is in St Francis Cabrini hospitol in Alexandria. He was in their ER for more than 6 hours and was in no mood to talk. A visit from a dr did not improve things. He removed Jeff`s vac dressing to examine the wound from the previous amputation then left without making attempt to cover the wound. It was left exposed for 4 hours despite requests that it be dressed. Nothing was done until Jeff almost tore a male nurses hair out and started making remarks about legal action. Note: never get within reach of a mad Indian. He was finally sent to a room around 3 in the morning. His operation was yesterday morning and resulted in the loss of the 4th toe on the left foot. He is now 3 toes but I am not going to say that to his face. I like having all my teeth. He has not been in a mood for talking with anybody other than hospitol personel. I brought his tablet which i am using now. He may be on tonight. Tomorros is likely a safer bet"

 Welcome back Jeffrey! ;)

Well, I really haven't made it back technically as I'm over sixty miles from my home. I'll be back there at some point but I'm not sure when. Time for me to call it a night. I don't know when I'll be on tomorrow but I'll be on at some time.

Hot and a high of 90. I'll be trimming the yard today and maybe taking a trip to Kokomo.
It's good to see that Jeffery is communicating again. Here's hoping he gets back home, today.

Good morning. It's warmer today, already in the 70s, going up to the upper 80s. Good to hear from you, Jeffrey. Get well soon! Sounds like that ER was a shop of horrors.

Well, I ran the test passenger train, yesterday afternoon, and it was a disaster.........so if I want to run decent passenger trains, I need to go back to the drawing board and come up with something better than I have, otherwise, I should give up on passenger trains and sell the cars off..............Decisions, decisions........in any event, I think this layout has run it's course.

Good morning. It's 73° with 94% humidity. Partly cloudy with a 20% chance rain.

Just finished my breakfast here. A passable excuse for oatmeal, what looked like a small scoop of powdered eggs, slice of French toast, cup of coffee that could probably double as paint thinner, skim milk, apple juice. Plan for today: Survive the onslaught of nurses!

Have a nice day.

you could follow the prototype, and get out of the passenger business.
I've done that, and retain a half dozen passenger cars for excursion service. I run them on the club layout.

So far today I've been poked and prodded by several doctors and specialists then I was rescued by the physical therapy people who took me for a long walk to the end of the hall, turned around and walked to the other end of the hall then back to the room where I was weighed (221) and put back into bed. It didn't take long for the scrubs and lab coats to begin circling again. Lunch was somewhat identifiable. What looked like Monterey Chicken with noodles and green beans a wheat roll and a pear. The Monterey Chicken was OK but the noodles were somewhat stringy and the green beans were like rubber. Anybody wanna play baseball? The wheat roll would make a perfect ball. The pear was the only perfect part of the meal and I really enjoyed it.

I actually want to run passenger trains, that's why a need to build something where they will look and run right. Running local freights is too much like work.

Good afternoon, It's another hot one here in the foothills of Central Calif. It's 96.1 °F -
Feels Like 98 °F which seems about right and going for a high of 94 °F?? Oh really, well it seems it already passed that temp.
The Hum-i-dity is 30% at present and headed to 52% at 11:00Pm. The winds are from of the SSW at 7.3 mph yet it seems just slightly breeze outside.

= = =

I varied my routine earlier this morning by heading out into the attached garage with my bowl of Quaker Oats Granola as I was intent of getting the last curved switch built. Yesterday I cut gaps in the PC tie strips I have the rail soldered to in order to prevent any shorts. I guess I cut too deep on one strip and it broke so that had to be replaced which I did and doubled checked gauge and rolled a truck through it back and forth while holding the points one way or the other. Then I had to solder the U shaped section of code 55 rail I use to hold the points spread open the right distance and that was a bit of a problem holding it in place over the thin point end to solder it but after a number or tries I finally got it secured in place and then I had to solder the brass throw rod to the web [o portion of the rail which I got done so now I have setting in place ready for me to get some switch ties down for the rail to rest on and be spiked down to.

So this is the accomplishment I've been trying to get done but always managed to get stuck sitting in front of the computer with the fan blowing on me. Guess I should put another fan in the gargae and let it run slowly to keep things cooled off in there.

Other than typing this there isn't too much else going on right now but I could go back out in the garage and get some wood ties laid in place so I can get the new switch ligned up and spiked in place and then get everything wired up.

Talk with you all later.

Say Joe

Good morning.
Well, I ran the test passenger train, yesterday afternoon, and it was a disaster...
Joe

So what was happening to cause you to say it was a disaster? Cars had too much overhang, or kept derailing or ?

Many times there a solution to the problem. I'm sure we can offer some help.

I suggested selling the cars to Amtrak, but that idea went over like a fart in a space suit...
