The weekend is here. Got my shipment of CVMW parts for the bridge. Still waiting on the parts from Plastruct. I thought they would be here today, but not so. Probably next week sometime.
Got freezing rain coming in tonight then snow tomorrow. Guess I won't go back out on the Harley tonight.
Had a couple of good riding days to work here, especially yesterday with the temps in the upper 60s.
Playoff games should be interesting as the Pittsburg game will be played in rain or sleet and the Kansas City game will certainly be in a freezing rain condition. Only the men play this sport.

I got to meet Ahmad Rashad in Korea when him and Costas did the Olympic coverage in 88. Him and Costas came to our base. LOL Costas is SMALLER than he looks on T.V. and he looks small on there and Rashad is one LARGE individual! I'm 6'2" and had to look UP when I shook his hand. Those guys in the N.F.L. (with an exception or two who will remain obscure) are Warriors!

Oh man, RYEEED when you can! My wife won't let me get anything bigger than 50cc's! I can do about 45 downhill downwind and it's got to be a BIG hill on a WINDY day! I can understand her not wanting me to go TOO fast but this thing barely has enough power to get me out of the way of traffic. It's another good reason for me to keep on the way-back roads where traffic is a rarity. I've had big farm equipment outrun this thing, some of those tractors can MOVE!

If it doesn't go too well for some of them, a member's looking for a few eunuchs to pull an Empresses' train.

I was over there too during the Olympics. We were locked and cocked, wearing war paint in the event N. Korea wanted to take advantage of the events.
Yeah, ride when I can. I bought this Harley back in late April. I've got over 18K miles on it now.

Oh yes, I got a Riv Big Boy, it was not the best quality control wise and failed on me after running an entire foot. Had to send it to get fixed and now it is my star puller as I suspected it would be. The thing probably weighs around three pounds and hauls everything I can get to stay coupled right now. (40+) I know not it's limit! If you are on the fence about one I'd go ahead and pull the trigger, it's NICE!

Terry posted two videos of this very loco when he had it for repair. Thanks again "Gomez" you ARE the "Go-to-Guru" (for me) when it comes to the inner workings of these things! I dunno nuffin!
Bruce, that thing isn't a Big Boy. It's a C&O Allegheny/VGN Blue Ridge 2-6-6-6. Your version is the Blue Ridge. A Big Boy is a Union Pacific 4-8-8-4.

HOMEBOY!!! Not every day I meet somebody who KNOWS what I'm talking about! YA "Locked and Cocked" is an understatement! I did 56 patrols inside the fences, saw and did some FREAKY stuff! I have propaganda leaflets from north Korea advertising the games to be held in Pyongyang! LOL! I was in Echo Company, 1/5 Mech Inf Camp Howze, we had the D.M.Z. mission while the Games were going on, I was up there from Aug till Oct, they worked us pretty hard and we EARNED those Imjin Scout Awards but I did get a four day pass and saw some events, got some autographs and had a BLAST down in Seoul! Typical Army, I only got my wings cause I made sure it was in the contract! I got trained for ground mounted TOW missile crewman before Jump School and wind up driving TRACK in a Mech unit! Never touched a missile, never got to serve in an Airborne unit other than for three weeks at the school, got screwed out of Ranger school because of my missile MOS (11 H) THEN when we went to the Z it was "Ranger" type stuff in small to medium size teams. NONE of the actual duties I performed was I actually trained for but the duties I was called upon to do were the exact ones I wanted!

Guten Abend !

Its was 70 here 2 days ago, now we are waiting for a snow/ice event to commence tonight, and screw up the weekend. :( I told SWMBO, if its yucky in the morning, we just may stay in bed for a bit!;)

Anyhoo, Garry I really like that Obs car! Even though I model eastern stuff, I am a closet Q fan.

Karl .... Nice ! I have the CB&Q biz car too. Also have the one painted for NP.... Kato offered it in several rods, but the CB&Q model is the one which is prototypically correct.

I think the Kato biz car is among the best made passenger cars in HO, and I sometimes wish Kato made other HO Passenger cars. Mine did not have lighting, but I installed the Kato lighting kits made for those cars.

Ron ... Good you will see the doctor. ... I know of people who have had esophagus problems, and it was difficult for them ... Praying yours will be okay.

No, I was Marine Corps. 7th Com Bn., Mobile Command Team leader in support to the Marine Corps West Pac Air Contingency Battalion.

Yes, I believe the prototype car may have been a car called the "Roundup".

Good morning Everybody!

It looks like we dodged a bullet. According to the weather radar the Freezing rain/Ice/Snow passed to the south of us.

Ken of the D&J be careful if you go out, better yet stay in if you can.

Have a great day Everybody!

Good Morning All. 36° and foggy this morning. Rain is still in the forecast for three more days, .3" yesterday. Got back on schedule with the grocery/beer trek on Friday, had to visit the post office and HD on this trip; killed the better part of the morning. Wife has been back to work at H & R Block for a couple of weeks now, so I cleaned house as well. This is the time of the tax season when most of the customers want "rapid refunds" and there are very few with any real incomes. She's seeing/hearing a lot of BS regarding the IRS-imposed delay of refunds for those claiming Earned Income Credit or Child Care Expenses, late February is what IRS estimates. That's contributing to the uptick in rapid refund requests with it's outrageous fees. H & R Block is doing the 1040EZ forms for free this year, but charging $20 to do the Obummercare form that goes with it. In the end, if you don't earn any money, 35-40% of your unearned refund gets eaten up in fees/penalties! Maybe they should just get jobs. They do get a few legitimate taxpayers right now, but the real crunch is coming up when companies issue the W-2's. Excuse the rant please.
Continued to do wiring in the train shed yesterday. Didn't have a lot of time there because of, well life!

Garry - Nice work on the observation car. As someone else posted, I also like the wrecker pulling the car in that scene.
Sherrel - Look at the bright side, at least your solar panels are getting cleaned!
Ron - Sounds like a frightening experience. Hopefully you can get it under control. I guess it's a good thing that RR's still have two-man crews.
Curt - Hoping that your daughter recovers quickly. Good that it wasn't any worse.
Karl - Like your biz car as well.
Terry -
it was known as the last roundup.
Was that the real thing or the model? :D

Everyone have an awesome Saturday if you can.

Willie

not even close to freezing rain today, nor snow. I'm still going to stay home and do some work on the empire.
I'll be going up to my daughters house this evening to watch the grandkids while they go out for dinner.

Good morning, 5 above zero heading for 20. We have the warming trend ahead of us, may even be loosing some of our snow towards next weekend.

Willie--

A couple years ago I had a big refund coming. It took until June to get it back from the state, now I take all my exemptions. Last year I got 1$ back from the State and paid in $2 to the fed. Cut that one pretty close.

When I saw the lawyer about the estate, he said we may hit the $1.5 million and have to pay the inheritance tax. I said we will pay all the taxes we have to if the farm is worth that much.

I know there are rich people out there that complain about taxes, I will never understand the reasoning behind that.

Karl .... Here are two CB&Q business cars....

The Kato prototype is "The Burlington" which was built by Budd company.

The other is "The Roundup" which CB&Q shops made from an old heavyweight car. Note the six wheel trucks.

It is a great kit bashing job !

Curt and Willie .... Thanks for commenting on the observation car as well as the tow truck. The tow truck was one I made from an old Magnuson Models kit.

David LASM .... I wonder about the $1.5 million threshold..... The federal inheritance tax kicks in at over $5 million not $1.5 million. ... Does your state have and inheritance tax too ?

Excessive taxes are bad for everybody and that is why people normally complain about excessive taxes. It has more to do with common sense than greed.

Good morning, 34° and sunny. They're still calling for some snow, after 2PM but the probability has dropped from 70% to 40

Joe- Will soldering jumpers help any?

Curt: I'm hoping that the installation of shims and ground throws will solve the problem.

Yes, im going to see a specialists, Feb 8th. I will be 48.

2869ral - Ron: Esophagus issues can have disastrous consequences, if ignored. Please do have it taken care of.

Louis: Greed is a powerful motivator. The wealthy, will spend more money lobbying for tax cuts than the taxes really cost them. Paying taxes, and other civic responsibilities, appear to be beneath them... Remember Leona Helmsley.
