Back from my eye doc. Got a date of 4 Sep. This doc didn't know that I was doing the cataract surgery as well as the vitrectomy, so that's all straight now. He said that they don't do mild sedation, only local or general, so I told him go for the general. I guess they only do 0 or 1, no .5 (all or nothing). So had to give urine, get a chest x-ray, EKG, and blood. The blood letting was brutal as the nurse was terrible. I saw her go past the vein and then start searching around. Left fist was about to come around and knock her out when she finally quit. I have big veins, so no excuse. Then she started on the left arm, this time with the butterfly needle instead of the syringe and she still went too deep. At least this time, she pulled it back a bit and the juices started flowing, so she got her 3 vials.
But, this may all be for naught as my diverticulitis is starting to kick in. I was hurting all day today at the hospital, but I feel ok now. I have a hospital appt on Monday on base with the surgeon to see what is going on. Already did the CT with contrast so I am guessing they'll want to do a colonoscopy again.
If it comes down to this, then the guts problem takes priority over the eye problem.
But, this may all be for naught as my diverticulitis is starting to kick in. I was hurting all day today at the hospital, but I feel ok now. I have a hospital appt on Monday on base with the surgeon to see what is going on. Already did the CT with contrast so I am guessing they'll want to do a colonoscopy again.
If it comes down to this, then the guts problem takes priority over the eye problem.

Hey all
Update on my K-27 model. well i took it on the test track yesterday evening, i was so excited..
the sound came on, the light came on, but the engine did not want to move...
when i did read the CV normaly the engine makes some small jumps. i remember it did the first time, but not the other times.
so i was checking the www. and found some headlight error indications. 12x blinking means. motor is stuck or something like that. ok checking again the www. it turns out mine is a "first version Blackstone model" with known problems like too much lube in the engine or something. the seller from ebay was writing, that the engine is totally cleaned and runs flawless... well i will test some tipps in the evening.
but i also contacted a friend i know that has many blackstone models, and he told me i should bring the engine and he will have a look at it. i really hope we get that little beauty running again..
after trying stuff i decided well i have to do something that makes me happy again.
so i finished painting this 1:35 scale store front. next step will be weathering.

Good Morning All!
53F @ 47% dark.
Quick one about fires. They found the guy that set the fire near the VA. They also think he did the NorthEast Spo one too but no video yet. Real piece of work, besides a bunch of earlier brush up's with the law, murdered his step father a few years back and they let him out early. Good'ol Washington - they will get it sooner or later. Now the local Law agencies are reports of and finding jerks that are trying to start new fires. Go figure.
I [for that lack of a better term] "grew up" in Spo. Was a great place for kids/family at that time. Finally got Mom outa there ~2007. Couple of friends still there. Maybe they will get smarter? Maria's friend passed Monday night. Didn't drink or smoke anything, was not overweight and never worked anywhere with ...um... bad air; so no clue where the lung cancer came from. Stacy ( daughter ) lives in Elmira ( up US95 ) so I expect she was bedside even with the fires and busier hospitals. In one respect, glad it is over.
Databases: I get to rebuild one of mine. There are places/code that fall under the 'what was I thinking part' some tables need combined and re-indexed. Pretty easy to do, just time consuming. Code fixing to match the new structure will take the most time. It will get done. I don't have anything else to do ... right?
Oh, and Lil is becoming quite the pill. She runs, jumps and butts almost everybody/everything. No more bottle baby, eats and drinks out of a bowl - in addition to weed clean up. She can jump on top of an overturned 36Gal garbage can, so her pen fence is next. Has not found the doggie door ... yet. It will come although we think the goat side of the chick/goat house will be good enough sometime next week which will save the house....

The jury is still out on the actual cause. The group of suspects ranges from a skinned knee from taking a fall in the garage a few weeks ago, the almost constant little wounds I have on my arm, spoon being a little too over enthusiastic when reaching into an engine department, or Lord, fuzzy butts bite marks.

Not a lot going on yet. I hit a couple of clouds with rain on my way in and now sounds like it's raining a bit stronger since I've been in the building. No real windows in the temporary space, but being on the 2nd floor, you can hear it on the roof. And now a little thunder.
Willie: BO was the only president to date that I've been older than as well.

Well, howdy there internet peeps, and those wondering where time flies to...
it's troy again.
My left butt cheek is still trying to kill me. Been awake since 2am. Overnight the piriformis tightened up... when I arose to pee, standing hurt and pain blocked the flow. Sitting hurt after a few seconds, and blocked the flow. So I started my stretches, all the while thinking: I really have to pee!
Got the bladder mostly emptied, and then hit the teeter table. It doesn't help with the piriformis, but it keeps the spinal stenosis in check. I don't need real sciatica while I'm dealing with the left butt cheek.
Yesterday, I was using the big percussion massager on the offending cheek, trying to loosen it up. Well, I made the mistake of laying it on Lord Fuzzbutt's ottoman empire. As I was napping on the couch, he decided his empire needed more fuzz, so he pushed the massager to the floor.
Last night, I retrieved said offensive massager, and it ran with suspicious crackle, like a gear was broken. Then it seized up.
time for a new massager.
I'll head out to the big box store in a while to replace the one sacrificed for invading the Ottoman empire..

Hello from So. Central Wisconsin where the forecasted heavy T-storms at 100% for 10 and 11pm turned into barely a trace of rain in the rain gauge. A 74% chance in 10 minutes or 7am DST. 66f degrees now 73 later.
I liked the Spider-Man:Brand New Day movie. I thought it was fast paced at 145 minutes and it keeps filling in Peter Parker’s story. I felt a much better story line and more realistic action scenes (very well done) than the typical Marvel Universe related movie
Watched the grandson’s hockey team play more like a team last night. Still the goalie is in over his head but now the teams passes the puck and after the 1st period they started to play defense. The grandson had 2 goals and 4 assists. He said after the game to me when I asked if he’s having fun and he said yes. This is a different team the last 4 games than the 1st 10 when we play together. I saw his youth level bantam and 4 of the high school coaches scouting last night. Unfortunately to me the coaches around here are too fricking serious
No interest so far this week in building trees, bridges or structures! I’ll try about 10:30am!

72°F/67°F this morning. Dewpoint seems to be staying in check. I think this will be the last day of DP below 70° though. Rain coming late tonight and most of tomorrow. Then one day of heat, three days of normal, and then more heat. I'm hoping to get one more day of open windows before I have to hit the A/C again.
Nothing going on here today. I thought about cutting grass, but it hasn't been even a week yet since the last cut and I probably won't be able to see the cut lines. It can wait a few more days.

Good Morning All. Clear and 76° out on my back porch. Triple-digit forecast for the next ten days after just barely nudging 100° yesterday. Rain??? What's that???
Well I was wrong about local school openings on the way to the eye doctor's office yesterday. They opened Monday. Seems early to me. A half-century ago when I went, they didn't open until the day after Labor Day! But most schools back then were not air-conditioned. My kiddos didn't seem to start until late-August back in the 80's-90's. Luckily, I just missed drop-off time though.
Today is another medical visit, to a doctor that I have never seen before. I'm going to see a spine specialist, finally! My PCP originally diagnosed my issue 2.5 years ago as sciatica but 2 separate six week therapy sessions didn't help; nor did the medications and steroid shots. Finally went for an MRI in January, the results which were overlooked for a couple of months while I had other medical issues fixed. I also forgot to ask! Spinal stenosis was found, so I am now going to a specialist. It has really put a damper on activity for me. I do everything now in 15 minute segments before the pain gets unbearable and I have to rest.
Meanwhile, yesterday was an average day after the eye appointment, dishwasher as always and some brief outdoor tasks including the hummingbird feeders.
Another uneventful day out in the train shed yesterday. Wired up the lighting in a couple more structures and mapped out the power wiring under part of the lower level since I was under there anyway. Not sure that I will ever need the power mapping as long as everything still runs, but it is a bit of unfinished business to me. Got all of those finished figures in to the paint booth for dull-coating and left them to dry overnight. I already have a spot for a few of them. I am thinking that I may now have a few more figures than I will actually use, but I still like painting them.
For years now, I have used Woodland Scenics Scenic Accents re-positionable adhesive to install figures and it has worked pretty well. But I am now finding that it has a lifespan of about 12-15 years and some figures are falling over despite never being moved. So I am slowly now using Aleene's Tacky Glue, or Gorilla Super Glue as I find downed comrades.
Todd - Stay safe with the fires in your area. Yeah! I read about the creep who they suspect of setting one of the fires
Karl - I have always found hospital food to be pretty good. It's just the environment that it's served in that I don't like. Hope that everything improves enough that they spring you out soon.

Hoping that the Stock Market continues on it's current good run. I made a half-years worth of working salary in the last three days. Well ahead for the year, but still below the peak from early June.

Morning All! 71 in the Brew City this morning, going to 76 for a mild day. That's a good thing, as the HVAC folks got here bright and early at 8 AM. The old system goes away today, and the new one gets installed. The mild temps will make the lack of service tolerable. The thump to the checkbook will sting, but at least I had it! I got 24 years out of the old system, and I've been told you can expect 20, and anything above is gravy. 
Finished cleaning out the garage, and got a little work done in the basement. Enjoy your day!

Are any of you currently getting a train mag? I haven't looked at a physical train mag or the online version in close to 10 years, I started to consider it yesterday. MRC is $59 a year, for the online and paper version. Is there anything worthwhile in the mag now or is it still 50%+ ads? Narrow Gauge and Shortline Gazette would be great if I wanted to get back into narrow gauge, NG steam era stuff or scratch building steam era structures, but I don't want to fall back into that rabbit hole if it can be avoided.
