Good evening. 72° and clear, today's high 92 °. Going to 93° tomorrow and 92° on Friday. All of asudden the Emergency management people are opening cooling stations for tomorrow and Friday. It's early August after all. What we really need is a soaking rain.Monday's 0.16" rainfall was a drop in the bucket. 9

I'm sitting here pigging out on M&Ms and wondering why I have indigestion?

Sherrel: Good luck with the surgery. Praying for Ya.

Louis: Watched the Birds win the sweep. They were a little shaky at times. I don't know what they see in Bradish??? He was ineffective. A tronger team would have cleaned his clock. Who is the female Play by Play person who did called the game with Jim Palmer on MASN-2? She was pretty good.

Vin Scully, R.I.P. He was the best. I'm thankful I had the opportunity to listen to his calling of Dodger games. 94 years is a good life.

Oh no! I gotta disagree with you Louis! Royal Farms Stores and Roy Rogers are much better! Last time I had KFC it wasn't chicken, it was Squab! Must be how Baltimore controls its pigeon population!
Karl- Roy Rogers brings back some memories, like the Double-R Bar Burger. I worked at RR in the late 80’s, across the street from Kiddie City(now AAA Hobbies) in Magnolia.

Troy, this just came across my desk. Think of how large a model railroad empire you could have, or relive your time as a high school basketball star:

What's interesting is about half an hour south is the old Knightstown Gym, which was the Hickory Husker's home Gym in the movie Hoosiers with Gene Hackman. I photographed a wedding reception there for a sportswriter friend of mine and his bride.

Screenshot 2022-08-04 at 6.23.23 AM.png
Of course, to protect the floor of the historic gym, they covered it in bright blue plastic tarps. That made photographing the character of the building a challenge.

I'm not sure if the gym in the ad was used in the movie Hoosiers, or not. A lot in that area were at least considered.

Unfortunately, that area is a good 2 hours south of the mother-in-law, so I don't see the wife moving any time soon

Good morning all! 70 degrees with 100% humidity right now heading for a humid 78 with pretty good chance of rain.

Got a few things accomplished at work yesterday. My new work-study student came in for his first day. Pretty smart kid and willing to work. I think he's going to be a good fit for my office.

Nothing much else going on. Hope you all have a great day!

You know it's going to be hot today when:

After sitting turned off for 14 hours in the garage, the temp gauge in your truck moves halfway to the normal operating temp position before the engine is even started. 🤣

No problems with the truck, just an observation. It was 106° yesterday and the garage does tend to get a bit warm.

Good Morning All. Clear and a little cooler at 80° this morning. Should be 103° later after just 102° yesterday. Forecast which generally isn't correct, calls for below 99° from Saturday through next Thursday.

Spent the whole day yesterday on just two tasks. I canned tomato sauce in the morning, and then after lunch/nap, I assembled most of a six drawer rolling cabinet for my wife's painting supplies. I say "most of" because I need to go today and remove three screws that didn't seat properly, and drill holes and then replace them. This thing has 102 parts and 96 fasteners.

Today is the weekly Thursday grocery trek, with additional stops at a few places including Dollar General and the Vitamin Store.

Thanks for all of the likes and comments regarding my slow progress yesterday; Karl, Steve J, Troy, Chad, Patrick, Tom O, Dave B, Hughie, Louis, Smudge, Sherrel, Curt, Gary, Rick, Tom, Joe.

Due to the previously posted household projects, I did not enter the train shed yesterday. I feel the withdrawal this morning.

Ken (D&J) -
Since I'll be home the rest of August, I guess I'll plan another op session for the club.
When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.:)
Tom O -
Waukesha. Nice city but very right wing as is the county it’s in.
And what's wrong with that? It can't be any more conservative than my congressional district, TX-13, previously known as the most conservative in the whole US Congress. After the redrawing of districts recently, parts of the liberal college town of Denton were included in the district, a blatant attempt at diffusing the Democratic vote.
Louis - Are the latest federal filings against States Attorney Marilyn Mosby old stuff just being rehashed, or is she really in trouble again?

Happy Birthday Barack Obama today. He is the only President in my lifetime who was younger than me.
Everyone have a great day. Stay cool.

Good morning from the north deck because we are leaving in an hour and I didn’t feel like hauling out the cushions. We had a 28% chance of over night rain so I took the cushions in at 11, the north deck has a larger rain protecting overhang. We received no rain overnight. The severe T-storms predicted for early afternoon missed us but from 11am to 2pm we did get about a 1/2” of wet downfall.

Today I will be sitting in a few waiting rooms as Terry bounces from one diagnostic center to another. This is a first for us as it has always been me playing the role of the diagnostic pin cushion. She at least does not have to be medicated to slide through those tunnel like machines. We shall see how the day unfolds.

The son in Austin finally after 2 weeks has a brand new replacement water heater. Less then 6 months old and the original to the house gave up the ghost. His air taxi service is officially incorporated in Montana as of yesterday. They are going to start much smaller then the plans originally called for. 3 planes instead of 5. He also thinks he has a buyer for his 2 personal aircraft. He figures he’ll be in the air enough on business. Cirrus told him last week that the new planes were heading to paint this week and should be available by the 15th. He so far has 4 clients. One that will fly regularly a route from Columbus, Ohio to Austin and another who will be flying all over the Southwest. The other 2 he said would be on call clients with 48 hour notice.

Our electrical software issues are resolved. Jason the “specialist” got everything working before lunch yesterday and then was terminated from his employment around 3. The reason given was he told the customer (us) we weren’t hacked and without company ok spoke to the police. He then showed us proof of the issue and where it came from.

We do have a written apology from the Electrical Contractor for the unfortunate demise of our system that was their issue. It seems the 16 year old son of the owner is working there in the Summer had unauthorized access to client remote servicing and was “playing” around. From what Jason told the Sheriff there are 2 other clients who he knows were previously affected by this “playing“ around. So far we are the only ones who contacted the authorities. The Deputy was very happy when he gave us back the computer last night. We will hire Jason’s company when he gets it organized as we will be terminating the Electrical/Solar Contractor this morning if our Attorney can react that fast!

So in 30 minutes I am off to sit in waiting rooms.

enjoy the day

Nothing wrong with being any wing of any political affiliation. This county just seems be be really extreme compared to other Wisconsin counties who lean in a direction.

Good morning gang!

Another blistering day on tap, temps nearing triple digits here too! Stay cool one and all!

Willie, I've got Adams Ave 1 and 2 in my "someday box", its nice to see folks who have conquered the kit.

Denton Texas, isn't that where the Rocky Horror Picture Show takes place??

Good Morning all!
58F in Libby.
77F in Olive Branch.

I woke up coughing big time on the 1st. I suspect I bruised something as a fever came on before up time. Don't want to go through that again, so smoking stopped. And on top of that I became dehydrated. Spent the last 3 days mostly sleeping. Was in a position that I could drive a couple of hours, then sleep a couple as we were returning "empties" and had no cast in stone appointment. Maria did her normal drive. Started drinking bottles of water which pretty much did nothing. 2nd Gatorade did the trick and now my fingers pop back out instead of staying squeezed.

Chicken: KFC used to be the one. Sometimes you can find an original corporate store and it still is pretty good. 2nd choice is Albertson's ( pretty much in the western 11 ). For the most part Hardee's strips are right up there, Chester's are sometimes hard in spots, and the bone in variety is pretty good. Note that the fast food places are in truck stops as it is interesting getting 70ft through the drive up window of the others.

S10 that brings back memories. Had an '88 with the 2.8 liter. Neighbor had a 4.6 liter Vortek laying there so install that. That was a crotch rocket stock! Ya did have some wheel hop if there was nothing in the back. Of course I did some mods ... Headers, got rid of the throttle body injection and added true injection, added 250Lbs steel between the rear wheels and tailgate. Still a crotch rocket and fuel economy went up slightly, depending on if your foot was in it or not. Wanted to cam and bore it but life got in the way.

Good morning all,

We started out at 48°, headed for 80 they say. Yesterday was gorgeous here in East central Minnesota with low humidity, yet hit a summery 80°!

The better half asked me to take out the lift out yesterday to get in the closet. Not a hard job, but the layout looks funny without it. Leaving it out for a couple days as she is working on a painting project and that is where she keeps the supplies. Allows me access to more layout gems, as since moving there are several totes with layout items. Kinda like Christmas when there are several boxes of goodies?

I like KFC, although the sodium content of their meals is so high I can't eat any salt for a couple days after eating there. Same goes for Noodles restaurant chain. My ankles swell up from water retention, takes a day but I made the connection a few years ago and it is pretty striking.

Never eaten at chik-a-fil. I like the Lousiana beans and rice at Popeyes, also their apple pies are the best!! Not sure about the chicken, though.

Tom - quite the story about your computer/energy control demise!! Definitely I would fire them as well!!

Political leanings - I would say it is difficult for democracy when anyone leans too far!

Another shot of the same two boxcars as yesterday, one is weathered a little, the other like new. I like both kinds on the layout. They are either Accurail or Walthers kits, I believe. If anyone knows, chime in please

My era is pre war so you won't see much, if any, graffiti on my layout. The good old days (for some)

back later, Dave LASM

Good Morning!

It's finally raining a really good wet-down! Over the past days, all the poor weather has stayed south of us, including the window smashing hail.

At night, I have been doing some few moments of work on the layout. I find that even if a person can give 10 minutes of time, things get done.
A bunch of base sanding was done, and I've added a couple of figures.
This is yardman Bill asking farmer Ed to go to the office and get a receipt before they load up a couple of barrels of heating oil into the truck:
OilDeal_08-03-2022 (4).JPG

This is actually my first try at 'diorama' type of modelling. In the past, I've only modelled single subjects, like airplanes, armour and figures.
I believe I'll be adding some vegetation into the scene next. It needs grass patches, weeds, and maybe a few bushes. I also want to paint the backboard.
The buildings and vehicles will not be glued down, and the roofs are removable.
Some decent layout lighting needs to be put in, as well. Flash was used for the photo, and flash washes out all the weathering detail. I need to fix that, where I don't need the camera flash.

I must go back and read all the posts. There's a-lot of pages added in here, if one misses a couple of days.

Catch yu'all later!

Nice looking scene, Guy!!!

Almost forgot to post a couple pics I took last night, our "tiny garden" is doing really well:

IMG_2466 res.JPG

Rabbits have been eating the Zinnias. They like to go in the garden and run around, it is quite comical to watch. Three wild bunnies probably be hawk food come fall/winter

Another shot of our bird feeder. They can empty the tube in one day. Tip of Big pond in background. Our yard is mostly white dutch clover, which I love the smell of:
