Well howdy there internet people and those who rescue lost computer techs

It's troy again

TomO your wife is due to be sainted.

My own wife needs a vacation, and I keep thinking of Wisconsin from all the pics you're post. When I was little, we used to visit extended family in Waukesha WI, and go to whatever the deer park place was. I remember being amazed that every time we visited, someone would put a wired wraparound-the-bumper advertising thingie (nonsticky bumper sticker in today's parlance) around Dad's back bumper to advertise the Deer Park or whatever it is/was.

She's in a cycle where we can't get a solid week to make the drive past Chicago to get up there, but it's on the list for later. I've got an author friend that writes a mystery series set on the Mailboat on Lake Geneva, and it would be fun to coordinate trips with her and finally get to meet in person.

In other news, we have gutters! We were the last unit finished yesterday. No Amish crews on this part. In fact, haven't seen the Amish woodpeckers all week. Looks like they're on another project until the gutters get done. So, I don't have to move my patio furniture and grills just yet. But, rain is in the forecast, so who knows?

And, finally, my plantar fasciitis is on the mend. Been doing my stretches, my tennis ball massaging, and wearing the Birkenstocks. So, of course, bursitis in my left elbow is acting up.

hurts to rest my arm on the arm of the patio chair so I can type. 3D printing to the rescue... and I didn't even have to print anything.

That's the foam insert that wraps around a bottle of liquid resin for the 3D printer. I cut a 2-inch section out of it to raise my toes when I do my stair stretch for my foot. So, I trimmed off the sharp corners, and drop it over the metal arm. Then I let my elbow hang off the foam, leaving support for my forearm.

Today shall be plotting out the new mystery. I know who the victim and perps are. An architect stabbed with his own pencil! (stylus since he works on a tablet). Now to figure out all of the connections to the red herrings, and how to frame a merman for it.

Troy: Your writing sounds interesting but like a school paper that never ends. Always having to come up with new stories...
Yep... Nothing sells the previous books like writing the next one.

Someone who's been ignoring my books on the Amazon suggestions goes, wait, there are now 6 books in that series? Ok, I can binge-read them...

Think Hardy Boys, or Nancy Drew but with faeries, snarky talking felines, and pompous pomeranaians.

Troy being married to the same women going on 46 years next month and living with her for over 50, shouldn’t I be the anointed saint? She says no! She’s the saint, no humbleness there.

Waukesha. Nice city but very right wing as is the county it’s in. Nice old downtown that we had a couple outdoor lunches at in Summer of 2021. It’s very close to where GregMmr lives and who I miss on the forum as he recovers from his fall a few weeks ago.

I am not from the area but I don’t recall those bumper stickers. I know in the Wisconsin Dells at the Tommy Bartlett ski shows (closed forever) everyone came out of that parking lot with those type of stickers

enjoy the silence of the missing workers till they return to the other side

Hey Everybody!

I'm coming to you live from southeast Baltimore via my seldom used windows 11 HP laptop.
God only knows why i buy stuff I don't really need or even use. Hey, I'm using it now!

I'm so deeply sorry to hear about Vin Scully.

On the other hand, I'm extremely excited about the Orioles trade deadline deals. I was so worried they would be buyers.

I hope the baby birds brought their brooms to Texas!

Best steak I ever had? Easy, this Father's Day just past my son brought over a dozen bone-in prime rib steaks, USDA Prime from Costco. He special ordered them. My boy can spend money even faster than his dad. It was a nice gift.
We seared those big steaks in a blaze of fire and a huge amount of smoke on the gas grill. They were excellent! I had steak for lunch and dinner for the next three days. I like mine rare :)

Jaz, I'm with you! KFC is the best chicken money can buy! If you are ever in Baltimore, stop by. My wife's fried chicken is even better. Everything my wife makes is better!

Deer Forest! That was the place - and it was in Michigan. Sorry... got the lake sides messed up

Afternoon All,

Started out with the morning walk then ran errands and dropped Dad's car off for servicing. After that we went to breakfast then went and picked up a 111 year old electric Singer sewing machine (free). Then the wife says we're in the area let's go to Sam's Club :(. Needless to say my legs are tired and I'm vegging for the rest of the day. Oh, my last 2 hoppers arrived a day early:). Tomorrow morning I'm heading out to see my buddy Jon and bring him 2 locomotives to work on (2-6-6-2 and a RS1).

Thank you to everyone that liked my weathering photos yesterday.

TomO- Very scenic area. Sorry to hear of your continuing power issues.

Sherrel- I'm very sorry to read abouy your aneurysm. Saying prayers for your health.

Gary- More great scenes.

Bonita- Where do you live? I also believe that KFC has gone downhill greatly (at least the closest one). I cut a piece of thin styrene (for sale sign) to fit the car opening (fairly snug), paint with rattle car flat black then sit it on top of the braces and then do the coal load.

Ken D&J- Sorry that your leg and back are bothering you so much you had to cancel your vacation, but I think you made the right decision for yourself.

Willie- You're making good progress.

Steve- Have fun on your trip.

I hope everyone has a good night.

Good morning gang!

The circus comes to town today. Chevrolet is bringing a new Z06 Corvette and all the hoopla and display paraphernalia that comes with it to the dealership today. I am going to try my best to stay in the back away from all this today. GM's corporate clowns annoy me to no end. I'd rather them build real quality cars for the masses and stop building limited production headaches. If Toyota can do it, so can GM.

BTW, I am getting another S10 tonight. Very straight 2003 2wd extended cab. The 4 cylinder runs great, but will be sporting a V8 soon enough, and will be my "toy".

BBL
Karl, if I may suggest, a roll cage, helmet, four wheel disk brakes and a really good set of tires.

Oh no! I gotta disagree with you Louis! Royal Farms Stores and Roy Rogers are much better! Last time I had KFC it wasn't chicken, it was Squab! Must be how Baltimore controls its pigeon population!

Afternoon all,

Phone surprisingly quiet!!!

Louis: Agree to disagree on KFC. Much better chicken places than that. Can't eat their chicken anymore without having stomach upset (upper, not lower). For that matter Long John Silver's, Churches, Popeyes and the local Walmart and Kroger chicken does the same. Couple of restaurants in Eastern Kansas we go to when we don't want to fry it ourselves.

Troy: Many memories of Deer Forest in Coloma, MI from my younger days. Gosh, now that I think about it it was nearly 50 years ago when I was there last.

Ken, I hope your back feels better. Heat is my best medicine.
You probably already know but ill say it anyway. Be careful of NSAIDS, they can wreak havoc on the digestive system and they can harm your kidneys.

And your heart, especially ibuprofen in heavy doses. I had a heart attack at age age 46, largely because I was eating 5 Advils at a time a few time a day. My Family doctor knew I was taking that many, and he also told me that he wanted my Uric acid levels below 9 to keep from having gout attacks... Turns out he was wrong on both accounts. Nobody should be taking 15 pills of advil a day, and I wouldn't have needed them if I had just seen a Rheumatologist who wanted my Uric Acid levels at 6 or less.

Sorry for the tangent... be careful with Ibuprofen, and if you feel you need that type of pain management, please see a specialist.

KFC: For chain store bone-in Chicken, we like KFC. I've been boycotting KFC though since they still have not opened for in-restaurant eating (last I saw a month ago) when most places around here opened back up mid to late 2020. I liked their grilled chicken best though I've heard that has been discontinued.

However, there are much better places for Chicken than KFC. The best I ever had for bone-in was in Korea. Korean fried chicken is the best (because of how they do it).

In general, for Chicken, at chain stores, for some reason we haveboth Zaxby and Raising Canes in Utah, though if you look at a map, Zaxbys is mostly just the South + Utah, and Raising Canes is predominantly the South, though Colorado, California, Arizona, and Nevada also seem to be represented, with a lot in the Midwest as well. I prefer Raising Canes to any of the chain store chicken. Zaxbys fingers are good -- their boneless "wings" (think nuggets) are not great, and I have not had their bone in wings. Popeyes is OK for bone-in but I don't care for their sides that much -- greatly prefer KFC for sides.

Best chicken of course is the mom and pop place that does chicken well in your area.

I need to see if we have any Korean based chicken places in the area.
