Same Ol' Buzzard
Good Morning All. Mostly cloudy and a bit cooler at 69°. A stationary storm system has been out west from Abilene through Wichita Falls and Oklahoma City into Northeast OK, and hasn't moved all night. It was expected to move east and bring scattered thunderstorms to our area, but... It may eventually move. High today is only forecast to be 72°, 84° tomorrow. NWS doesn't really know what's going to happen weatherwise!
I did lots of gardening and yard work yesterday, under cloudy, cool conditions. An ache or two before bed are gone now. This Spring has been a tough one for yard maintenance. It rains and the grass/weeds grows, then it rains again preventing complete mowing! It's cutting into my train shed time!
I should finish up the Tomato cages this morning after the dew dries, if it doesn't rain. I don't work on Tomato plants (or several other crops) when they are wet, as that increases the possibility of spreading fungal diseases if they are present. So far this season, insects have not been a problem except for ants. They don't attack the plants, but they bite me. I have been successful in driving them out into the hayfield using Spearmint oil as a deterrent, but I have to keep on top of it.
I'm holding off on the dishwasher until I see what is happening outside.
I didn't spend a lot of time out in the train shed yesterday, but wen I was there I continued with the P2K covered hopper build. I do some gardening work and then come in and cut or glue a few parts and then go back out, so progress has been slow. That brake line that I posted about yesterday is always interesting, as it runs the whole length of the car and intertwines with the bolster on each end. I have broken a couple in the past, but not this one. They as well as many other parts are very fragile.
Then there are the latches for the hatch retainers.
I finished up the brake gear, well most of it!
I added the roofwalk to the top, but there is nothing interesting about that.
Karl - You asked about White Stripes, they were a husband/wife duo (Jack and Meg White), who played what I would describe as "Garage punk". They were active from the late 90's until the mid 00's; which in my opinion wasn't really long enough to qualify them for the HOF. Many folks had never heard of them. He played guitar and sometimes keyboards and she played drums. They divorced in 2000 but kept playing together for a few more years.
I agree with you on Jim Steinman, but just because Meatloaf was a successful (and good) musician, doesn't in my opinion qualify one for the HOF.
Swal - Regarding Foreigner and the Hall of Fame. I have noted and read about a lot of artists who were passed over too many times. I think that a lot of the HOF nominating is insider politics with their committee. As I pointed out, it took them over 40 years before they even nominated Chubby Checker! An artist is eligible 25 years after their first recording. Joe Cocker became eligible in 1993 and Bad Company in 1997. But yet this year is when all three got their first nomination.
Terry - I noted about a week ago, that former mod Tony's user name was reverted back to Wombat457. Thanks to whoever made that happen, as I felt that the other one was an unfortunate slap in the face to all members.
Everyone have a wonderful Wednesday. I have just heard distant rumbling.
