Almost an hour in the water now and all they have done that can be seen is to open the hatch. Valet service it ain't. Front porch still isn't installed. 40 people out there on boats. I hope they left a few seats for the crew or there's going to be some lap-sitting.

I've seen enough Apollo landings to know it doesn't take this long to extract a crew.
The time line that someone published said it would be an hour. Ie planned. I didn’t watch tonight. How long was it?

The Front Porch was delayed due to wind and currents. They had to keep circling the capsule as they were trying to get it attached. Once that was done, they had to fight with the hatch! But once the hatch was opened, it went pretty smooth, and all four Astronauts walked off the helicopters to the superstructure without needing to be wheeled in.

I have an iPad, and have gotten tired of being forced to watch up to 10 minutes of ads in order to watch a 4 minute video, so I decided to try their paid service. While it's nice not being forced to watch ads that are longer than the videos, I've noticed that in order to find and watch what I want to watch, I have to sign out of Youtube. That pretty much defeats the purpose of paying to avoid ads, because in order to locate and watch, I have to sign out, then see the ads anyway. Is this something to be expected, or am I again managing to accidentally find a way Murphy is "helping" again?

I typically run ghost trains, no riders. Bought some 1/80 scale folks and found that they fit better in the 1/76.2 scale (OO) cars, so I stuck them all inside my Derby Lightweight DMU.

Of course, I put the old folks up in first class.

I think the 1/87 scale folks may fit better in my 1/80 cars, but after searching for most of the morning, I can't find anything interesting, so this may be it. I don't have a driver for this, so it is autonomous drive for now.

I've got premium, and don't have that problem anywhwere on my IOS devices (iPhone, iPad, or Macbook).

I just think that technology is telling Terry he should be Amish.

You any good with birthing cows or driving a plow horse?

My grandfather was a dairy farmer.
And a moonshiner, but that's a story for another time.

When I log in to YT, everything shown to me is AI slop. Everything. I can search and find stuff, but not really the stuff I was expecting to see, and it doesn't seem to remember my viewing history when I'm logged in. I log out, and don't even need to search to find stuff based on my viewing history. I think that's pretty much the opposite of what most people experience--otherwise, nobody would bother signing up for the service.

My folks are out here visiting us. They wanted to relax and watch the Ohtani game today, so I called the hotel last night to make sure they could see it in their room. Hotel guy confirmed it and I thought all was good.

Game starts and I get a text saying that they cannot see it and if we were watching. Yep, my wife was watching her BF, so I called the hotel again. I asked if NHK BS (broadcast satellite and not the other type) was available and if it was a pay channel. The guy said they don't have any pay channels and that they have NHK BS. I asked what channel number it was so he said wait and a different guy comes on.

So I explain again and this guy, who sounded like English is a third language, said that they don't have any baseball channels. I said can you say that again? He said the same thing so I asked if they had NHK BS and he confirmed, so I told him that the baseball game was being shown on NHK BS. Then I asked what channel on the TV was it on, so he said they'd send someone up to the room. Finally, some forward motion.

I texted my folks that someone was coming up. 5 minutes later, all was good. Now I have to gum my food!

I was watching some YouTube last week and the screen started going weird. Started at the bottom right corner. Initially the screen started going white. Then, last Saturday morning, it went dark. That’s all she wrote! My 9 year old 55” Samsung OLED was done. Why did it start at the bottom corner? Well, I found out why.

Looks like a little tooth bit into it.

“Had” to go bigger with the new one. (65 inch OLED) The resolution is absolutely beautiful!

did your subscription list carry through after activating the Premium when you're logged in?

Are you using the YT app on the iPad, or just a browser window?

I asked the AI overlord on Chrome about your situation:

Here's the edict from on-high: (sounds like some of your previous screwy privacy VPN stuff probably had apps not able to figure you out, so it defaults to browser cookies when logged out. The premium is probably treating the account as a "NEW" you due to whatever the old ISP you had did to you.... at least that's what I'd blame)

Yes, the YouTube app on iOS tracks your browsing history differently depending on whether you are logged in or logged out. While YouTube Premium benefits generally apply when logged in, the app maintains separate tracking mechanisms for logged-out sessions.
Logged In vs. Logged Out Behavior
  • Logged In: YouTube records watch and search history, linking it directly to your Google account, which updates across all devices (Apple TV, phone, desktop).
  • Logged Out: YouTube still tracks your activity on the app via cookies and IP address for recommendations. However, this data is saved to a separate "signed-out" profile on that specific device and is not linked to your Google Account or synced with your other devices.
  • Mixing Data: If you watch content while logged out and then log in, that specific "logged-out" history generally will not merge into your primary account's "watched" history.
Key Considerations
  • Persistent Tracking: Even when logged out, Google can still target ads and make recommendations based on your behavior.
  • Separate History: To avoid having your watching habits tracked, you should use YouTube in Incognito mode, which does not link to your account or save to history.
  • Clearing Data: Logged-out data is typically cleared when you remove cookies and cache from the iOS app, whereas logged-in data can only be removed by deleting it from your Google account history.
