Happy Easter!

Well howdy there all you internet Peeps, and those who understand "HIDE THE EGGS!"

It's Troy again.

My tinnitus is going NUTs again. Probably has something to do with all the Ibuprofen I've taken over the last few months. I've been decreasing the dose as I get the piriformis/sciatica back under control.

As for Easter, it's just another day of the week here. But I did take advantage of the sales and got another spiral cut ham. I'll double smoke it this afternoon while my wife is visiting with her mother. I expect wife will make cornbread, and we'll have some veggies with it.

That will give me two and a half gallon freezer bags full of smoked ham in the freezer. Good for pizzas and sandwiches for a few months. Yes, I subdivide the ham into snack backs, then pile those in the gallon bags before freezing.

Did another update in the layout thread. I had to get the rough idea of the track plan down while I was considering it. I'm discovering that my memory is use it or lose it. Write it down now, so I don't mis-remember it later.

I hadn't realized Ibuprofen could contribute to screaming tinnitus. Taking a lot of it now for my hands, and I guess that loop is part of why sleep is hard to come by. And why I'm here lately in the wee hours--it isn't only because of coffee. Or shots (well...the moonshots ;))

I might have to back off on it a fair bit. Dayum.

A blessed easter to all!

Fighting a cold, I actually got through the Holy Week pretty well! One big service this morning, then all the kids are coming over for dinner! We'll have nine adults and one grandchild. And my oldest daughter, Praise The Lord, has finally conceived!! So I have been put in charge of providing non-alcoholic drinks. I'm pretty confident that this will be the first holiday dinner served in the Jones household that did not include wine for many. many years!

Trains: I dropped all the feeders. And then of course I unsoldered the two I miswired and switched them! A very common mistake, I know. It merely made me laugh at myself. I joined the ranks of a very distinguished band of modelers!

The whole layout is now live and I drove a loco over each section of new track. Very satisfying.

I am having an issue with the reversing loop, however. But I did not delve in to it, but watched Telly with the wife, instead. We ordered pizza and salad for dinner, and ran into a buddy at the 'joint' when I went to pick up the order. A nice chat with him which may or may not have involved a glass of whisky, then home for a nice evening and an early bed. Big day today.

No train work today, maybe tomorrow if I am up to it. Even though the big construction project is done, still lots to do!

Ah yes - - - the weather.

Snow fell most of the day yesterday (Willie put that in your Texas pipe and smoke it!!), but no accumulation here in the Twin Cities. North Minnesota got a bunch, but the temp hovered just above 32F here. 27 now and a high of 38-ish will make for a chill grill for the legs (yes plural) of lamb. The cook may need a flask of anti-freeze!

Tomorrow a high of but 39 - - - No Easter Monday golf for this kid!

Happy Easter all. More rainy, drizzly here in Southern NH.
We won't be celebrating until next week as my wife's family is Greek Orthodox. This year they are only one week apart. They fall as many as 5 weeks apart and once every 5 years or so the fall on the same day.

My son-in-law is Greek. And my daughter-in-law is Ukrainian. She and my son now go to an Orthodox Church. It is not a Ukrainian Orthodox and still observes the traditional calendar (the Ukrainian Orthodox church switched to the Western calendar to further break from Russia). So, my family gets two Easters! SIL flies home to Greece this week so he can celebrate with his family.

I'm on meloxicam for my nerve pain, no ibuprofen. I remember them giving me 800s after my shoulder surgery, but that was a long time ago. I do remember that it helped.
I was on that stuff for 2 weeks when I messed up my shoulder from lifting.....too much. The orthopedic surgeon said only 2 weeks on it because it's the fastest way to mess up your kidneys. It's definitely ibuprofen on steroids. It worked, but I also followed his directions to heal the shoulder and avoid surgery. My PCP called it the "last resort" anti-inflammatory.
