Remember to trust no one, no outrageous news today...

I heard a story, with no research into it's veracity, I shall repost here: In the times of ye olden days, only the court's fools could get away with speaking truth to power, but they had to do so in a comedic way. Supposedly, during the reign of Q Elizabeth, she was set to lay the smack down on the Irish. But her fool, Thomisina, composed a performance that made her think twice. It was then that QE designated that April 1 was the day that fools could speak truth to power with no repercussions.

That's why I'm here. ;) I know of no one more "foolish" than I.

well howdy there all you people wondering what's for breakfast today

It's Troy again

I'm eating my Girl Scout Coconut Caramel Granola Clusters at the moment.

Wife just headed into the hospital for Mom Duty. Yesterday was a lot of waiting around to find out nothing. So MIL texted to say the doc were going to do the big needle and pull fluid off her other lung today. Evidently the ultrasound or xray or whatever showed a lot of fluid still.

Wife and her nurse sister both slapped their foreheads and said "Really?" Duh....

Sounds like the weekend crew and the weekday crew didn't get their communications straight on that one.

Wife said it's Margarita nite tonight, so I get my Midwest Mexican with the Queso Blanco cheese dip!

In MRR layout news, today I'll work on finishing the divider. Not sure if I want to keep the Bullnose or not. It would be easier without. But look better with...

i-hfgVTkg-X2.jpg

I'll install the uprights, and crossbar from the back wall to the foremost upright, trim down the two repurposed backdrop 8ft sections from the old layout. Then I'll figure out the bull nose. After that, I'll finish up the paint on it.

I need to go back and blend in the fade between light and dark, so it looks goo across sections.

And, I think I'm going to cut off this left most bump out on the back wall. That will let me move the backdrop in by a good 6 inches to close the gap on the center.

Just waiting on the neighbors to wake up before I start running power tools on things connected to adjoining basement walls.

Morning all,

Early morning blood draw as the annual city physical was completed. Part of our wellness check. They do a blood draw, height, weight, blood pressure, etc. No clothes off things. They then send you a copy which you're supposed to discuss with your physician at your real annual physical. You get points based on the readings and get your Dr, to sign off. At a maximum of 15,000 points for a couple, you get a $200 discount off your family plan insurance.

Currently 51° and a high of 70° later. Had a 1/4" of rain at the house overnight and expecting storms this afternoon into this evening. Some may be severe.

Not much else happening. I got the first coat of paint on the corrected drywall, only to have to severely sand and re-putty the line where the old mirror was. Felt smooth to the hand, but once painted, the line was pretty dramatic. I actually dug the sandpaper into the original sheetrock. I'll look at it again when I get home.

Good morning Crew from Orlando. It’s 65f degrees and heading to 83. The humidity is at 91% but at noon the WeatherChannel says it will be 49% but that’s very comfortable.

Our AirB&B is decent. Good sized place for a 1 bedroom. It is 10 floors up in a “luxury” condo complex. Not sure when it was ever luxurious as it’s past its prime and definitely needs an infusion of money. It looks southeast per the compass on the phone so if Artemis2 launches tonight we would should be able to see it. It’s 60 miles away per Mapz but the news last night was talking about the best places to see it locally because it should be clear skies

Dinner at 10:30pm local was at a place called Millers Ale House because it was walkable. We were told NOT to take the shortcut next to the lagoon. Seems they have alligators in there. Maybe 2 blocks via the shortcut or 31 minutes to walk around, we walked around!

A day to relax

Good Morning All. It's mostly cloudy and 68° here this morning. Mid-80's again today. NWS is sticking with their forecast of overnight rain with a 100% chance just past midnight.

Yesterday's plans didn't go as expected. Just after I posted here, I got a phone call from the dermatologist's office informing me of a cancellation yesterday afternoon, and would I like to use the time slot for my Electrodessication and Curettage procedure? Basically to burn off the basal cell carcinoma that he found on my shoulder last week, that the biopsy showed to be malignant. Nothing major, I have had this procedure before on the back of my hand. After the procedure, I went and got my ears lowered for the holiday coming up...three times a year whether I need it of not! Got her to trim my beard as well, just because I was feeling generous.
No real plan for today yet!

Yesterday out in the train shed, more of the same. Didn't get a lot of time since my medical procedure was at 2:00 in the afternoon. Did a very small bit of additional ground cover along one side of the main line. Not much because I haven't figured out the design from there to the layout edge just yet. Need to paint the rest of the backdrop since I removed the backdrop poster.

I also evened up the rail yard storage spurs over on the LH side coming off the yard. These may still be temporary, as I am not really including this in the overall project right now.

Ran out of time before I got to the 4th one. Got to think about that one anyway. Right now it is exactly 36" plus the bumper track, which means trimming 1/2" off something., either a piece of flex track or a piece of 9" sectional track. Maybe just using 3 pieces of sectional with an 8.5" scrap of flex which I'll have to look for.

Tom O - Even though I don't ever plan to invest in crypto currency, your investment in Bitcoin Sunday will probably pay off handsomely, but there will be some frayed nerves in the meantime.
Michael - I fortunately am not prone to "impulse purchases" in the grocery store, so their rearranging only bothers me because I have to learn something new that is unnecessary to begin with. I shop strictly by my list.

Everybody have a great Wednesday.

Good morning all!

Hard to believe April is upon us already!

Currently it's a partly sunny 69F in Destin. Back home in Northern Illinois it looks like it's a cool damp 38F. With the wind it will feel like 20F to those that are there.

The dolphin cruise last night was pretty good despite the ft it was really choppy on the Gulf. I did take a Dramamine pill an hour before in anticipation of possibly being a little seasick. It seemed to mostly work and only got a little queasy. A few others on the boat were not so fortunate.

Not sure what our plans are for today. We are kind of winging it.

Have a safe day everyone!

For some reason your rabbits remind me of Bill Murray

I planted all my veg seeds yesterday, but for the Japanese cucumbers & Fall Kale. I'm going to wait until May to plant the cucumbers. Rain today and showers tomorrow, with temps at or above 70 the rest of the week. Also cut another pound of asparagus for dinner last night.

I'm kind of sorta thinking about re-starting something in On30. I have a couple of non-operational critters that just need new power chassis. Just want to dip my toe back in a little.
