So as a homage to the anniversary to the United States, I decided to take it upon myself to build a bicentennial locomotive, and a train car. I didn't realize that the event was coming in about a month. I wanted to build the ICG's Bicentennial locomotive a GP38AC, I had no start other than some styrene and a dynamic brake hatch. So I hit up the local hobby shop and found the best start anyone can ask for a new in box GP38-2. It's in the missouri pacific scheme but its a good start.
I believe all the parts I need I have on hand, the only worry I have is that the decals don't get here in time or I can't find any. Only 35 more days to go.
Today was fairly easy, made a fan replacement panel, and an air filter box, plus replaced the dynamic brake blister with another Proto 2000 one. Next part is cab and anti-climber as this one has the later style used on GP50s and such.
I never really gave a clear picture of the Project idea
ICG 9510, Painted in 1975 for the bicentennial the ICG, the first 1776 wreaked on its maiden voyage, when it fatally collided with a gasoline truck at a grade crossing, retiring it. The Second Bicentennial was 9503 not many photos of the locomotive before or after the Bicentennial exist but probably repainted to the Orange and Black Scheme.
Two things happened today, a Canon and Company Cab was added and the entire wiring system was rebuilt, but we probably be rebuilt again if I add DCC
Oh and I rebuilt the Anticlimber a few nights ago.
This weekend was a pretty important one, bought the light housing, placed it on the nose, and sourced a gyralight from a Athearn BB Gp35, cut the fuel tank down, it had the longer Gp40, it needed the shorter standard Gp38 style, built the side hood bell, stripped a few parts, bought paint, ordered decals, fingers crossed they arrive soon.
Primed and Ready for paint, awaiting decals to make a few more parts.
Decals came in and the parts were finished, and painted, awaiting a day to spray clear coat. Found out that the Cheap knock off Tamiya tape, from Hobby Lobby, is just as good as Tamiya Tape itself. Made all these lines with it.

Looks great, love all 250th Locomotives.
Would love to build one myself but those days are over, instead ill be buying the scale trains Blue Mountain and Northern SD40-2. It's a local road not far from me. It's due in August so here is hoping its on time.

Applause, particularly with regard to the dynamic brake blister. I had not realized any of the MP Geeps were ever equipped with them, although I knew about the SD40s.

Yeah ICG only had a few with dynamic brakes, the class leader 9500 doesn't but then the rest till 9519 have them its very confusing as ICG purchased them and aren't hand-me downs
