Still digging into my stuff and pulled out a new never run MRC Alco C420 of maybe the early 80's vintage. On the box and underside of the engine it says made in Italy so I'm guessing either Lima or Rivarossi made it for MRC. Long story short, the axle gears are split. Anyone know of a replacement? I sifted through some extra Athearn trucks but the gears are much larger diameter.
I hate to trash this thing because the body detail is excellent with see through grilles, etc and the motor is smooth and quiet as long as the 4 driver axles are out of the trucks.

What about Genesis or similiar gears. Is the gear too big or the hole for the axle?
do you have any pics of the gears or at least a count of how many teeth they have. If worse comes to worse you can check NorthWest Short Line as I am sure they have gears that would fit your need. If its just the axle gears that split then you can just upgrade the wheels as I believe they come with gears.

Problem 1/2 solved
Going through all my gear and driveshaft spare parts I found part of a NWSL tower gear set for 6 axle KMT brass diesels. There were 2 of each still in the package. The smaller one, same as the busted plastic ones, has a .093" hole and the pitch meshed with the MRC / Lima gears in the trucks. All that was needed was to open the NWSL holes to .100" to allow pressing onto the MRC axles. So now all I need is 2 more NWSL gears. The other 2 axles have had their gears removed until then and the engine runs smooth and quiet right now.
