Pam and I haven't made it there yet! I've been down with a good case of plueresy. Gotta get better before I can travel.

Carey,

Wondered when you were coming down. Could have used you at the ops session. We were short handed (typical for a first session). Only ran about 1/3 of the trains with 1/2 a crew. Worst the layout has ever run. Had a major electrical issue in the steel mill, a piece of bad track leading into west staging and then a point rail on a turnout broke in Batesville. The first two issues were due to me not checking things out well enough before the session. The turnout problem was a new one!

Maybe you will be well enough to come Oct. 10th for the next session.

Glenn;

We did make it down there yesterday, the 30th. for about 2 hrs. Had to check on Pam's stepdad, and he ran us off after those two hours. We left before you got off work, so no calls. I'm working on Pam to let me go down there on the 10th, to make the session.

I have gotten behind in posting to this thread. I got the two staging yards up. I then had to complete the main line. In order to install the ME viaduct trestle, I needed some bridge abutments. I decided to cast them in hydrocal. I made a couple of quick molds from scribed siding.

I got the bridge assembled and painted. The installation is temporary, so I can remove it when I build the canyon behind it. The first engine crossed the bridge without any problems!

The first operating session went well considering there was only half of the required crew and they were all new to ops. Also had a major power issue in the steel mill that took a while to correct. Also had problems with the lead into west staging yard. I didn't do enough testing of the track. We still managed to get 1/3 of the session completed in 3 hours.

The second session had a larger crew and we finished all of the mainline freights. The passengers were annulled due to lack of crew. Most of the steel mill and branch line trains were run. The session was made extra special by an old friend making a long trip to attend the ops session.:)
Mike has the new record for distance travelled to an ops session! This session marked the first time Rabbittown was switched. The lead to west staging worked better, but needs to be improved before the Nov. session.:(

Since the session I have managed to get two locomotives back into service. Still have one engine that needs couplers and a decoder.

Glenn, how can I move in when you ain't got my Cot set up under the layout?LOL's J/King... Sweet wish ya lived in floriduh, that layout would be on my visit list!

BTW: your a brave man to put models on the floor! if i did that for even a minute they wouldn't look nice!

Chris,

The cot won't fit under the layout, but there is space in the crew lounge area. I will warn you the current "Honey Do" list is attached to the cot and the last I look it was at least as long as the cot!

I use to live in FLA. I graduated college from FTU which is now UCF. I lived across the bay from you in Gulfport. My mother still lives there.

I had a layout in my bedroom with 3 towns and a good 2 man operation. Of course the layout was torn down in '75.

Maybe we can meet over the Christmas holidays? We should be down for a visit with the son and grandkids in Lutz and Mom in Gulfport.

Glenn

Tell ya what, I build ya a 3' long 12" tall wood trestle instead of doing the Oh....HONEY DO's! Oh Honey Do's Bite! My trainroom is a wreck and layout Mothballed until next spring when business start picking up! so if ya visit be far warned! LOL's
