Wow that IS really cool. I always wondered what they look like inside.

How do they stack the cars?

Mike,
Those are great photos of the loading ramps. Do you have more or hi-res versions? I wanted to build a ramp for a future module and need proto photos to work from.

Thanks,
Dave

@Motley: The first picture was taken in the yard at the GM Auto Plant in Wentzville, Missouri.

@Dave: I found those pictures off google images. Sadly those were the best I could find :(

Mike

Thanks Mike, I thought I had seen them before. I guess they are the ones I found when I searched before. Seems you know as I do that there are no good ones out there.

BTW: I do love the inside shot of the autoracks!!!!!

Dave

Dave, if I ever get a chance I will head over to the plant in Wentzville (It's about 15 minutes away) and try to get some pictures for you.

Mike

Thanks Mike. You don't need to do it anytime soon as I'm a long way off from doing this project. Thanks for the offer and I would be greatful for any photos but be sure to be safe.

Dave

Safety is key! I'll let you know when I do get around to it. I'm just happy to help a fellow modeler when I can :D

Best regards,
Mike

It is very cool. What are those black things on the side?

I wish I could also find a few pics I had of 2 autoracks on there side that me and a few other railfans watched go onto there side with brand nex lexus' inside.

They look like rubber bumpers to keep the cars from hitting the bulkhead supports.

I guess that is the inside of a bi-level autorack, and we're looking at the bottom level.

Looks like straps to tie down the cars during transportation. Some look like they are straps to hold the side panels in place as well. I'm sure there has to something to tie the cars down with when the train moves bus since this is my first look inside a car carrier and it's clean looking.
