Most railroads have always had some sort of transportation for Crews that are Re-Crewing though trains at a Crew Change Point. N&W had Chevy Suburbans driven by Yard Clerks long ago and now uses Renzenberger (a Kansas based railroad crew transport company) To transport crews from the yard offices to their trains and incoming crews back. Although some crews change right at the yard, there is still a transport van waiting to and from. This has been a practice on most railroads for decades. I never see this replicated on Model Railroads. This is one more detail that can be used for more realism on our pikes. Those White Vans should be part and parcel of our Operations also. :)

Mhmm, I'm slowly building a fleet of support vehicles. Pick-ups, hi-rail, MOW, fuel, cranes, ect. Vans are high on my list, but I'm waiting for the River Point Station ford E series vans, since you see more Fords now-a-days (and I model always modern). They transport train crews, and MOW crews.

On the subject, I just sold a Trident Suburban to a guy who plans to use it for a Pennsy crew truck, he called it a "jitney".

I don't think I've ever seen a railroad police car modeled, now that I think of it. Some of them look pretty good, like these:

I may give one of these a try but model it for my shortline. I have no idea why the Napa Valley Wine Train needs a police department but, if they do, so does the Prattville & Northern. :)

NS uses a company to transport its crews. They all use Chevy Astro Vans -

I retired from Renzenberger last year, we all drove full size Ford Vans and Chevy Vans. I serviced NS from Conway to New Haven Indiana, Buffalo NY, Cleveland, and Columbus. I drove 597,698 miles in 5 years.
