What is a good source of online maps showing railroads? I haven't had any luck with Google Earth and most sites that I find from google are maps from the 1800's or are large wall maps for purchase.

Any ideas?

Try Half Price Books and look for an old used North America Atlas. They usually have all the railroad lines in there, though many of them are abandoned today. If you're interested in anything in Tarrant County, try the Tarrant Appraisal District website. The tax maps online have lots of good railroad mapping.

Paul's got the idea - If you look up specific railroads on Wikipedia, you'll find a bunch of them have old early 1900s maps posted with them that are HUGE. Look up New York Central and you'll see what I mean. :)
