Hello all,

I am going to be taking a trip down the east coast this year and want to put some frequencies in my scanner. I have a digital scanner with Alpha tags and if possiable I want to program it with the name of the RR with the frequency. I have doone some surfing on the net and found two sites:
http://www.dpdproductions.com/page_rrfreqs_railroads_mz.html#anchor144285
http://www.whrc-wi.org/railfreqs.htm

The first has ALOT more frequencies per RR. Example BNSF
The second is a little better but last it was updated was 2004 and still has BN. Does anyone know of anyother such sites? Thanks, Kevin

Yes I do however it has been 6 years since it has been updated. Plus it lists the BN and Santa Fe as seperate Companies. Not sure how accurate that will be. Also, I have seen three or four different pages and all have different info. Granted they all may not have all info but one even has frequencies that are not AAR being listed as road operations. ( man my head is spinning)

Well I decided that since I am board at work, I would go to the FCC website and search EVERY AAR frequency and see who uses what.

Wow. Thanks for this post though. My buddy found out the other day that I was into trains, and gave me his scanner. I just manually programmed 86 CSX channels into the thing. I think im gonna need a prybar to un-cross my eyes. :D

Yeah I know what you mean. I am just about half way through my search. I have found that BNSF, CSX, UP, and NS half the most. I also found that for each frequency that BNSF has, whcih is almost everyone so far, they have MANY licenses for each frequency with a different call sign. Quite interesting.

Radio Reference is, by far, the most up-to-date site for radio frequencies of all kinds. If you have a digital scanner, you should only need a cable, software, and a membership with Radio Reference to download any frequencies you need, with no need for eye-crossing manual entry. :) I have a bunch of scanners and different software packages. Let me know what kind of scanner you have and I'll give you some recommendations for software.
