Railfan opportunities in Central New York from Binghamton to Syracuse :)

ModelRailroadForums.com is a free Model Railroad Discussion Forum and photo gallery. We cover all scales and sizes of model railroads. Online since 2002, it's one of the oldest and largest model railroad forums on the web. Whether you're a master model railroader or just getting started, you'll find something of interest here.

Two days wandering doing Holiday shopping yielded the following. ( We have a LOT of interesting Railroad activities & history here )
I grew up in Endicott/Endwell during the mid 1960's to early 1970's. My dad was with IBM. I remember seeing EL, LV, and NYSW freights moving through. There was a coal fired power plant in Endicott or Johnson City near the shoe factory that always had a string of coal hoppers. The mainline used to parallel the IBM country club in Johnson City (now gone) and there was always a train to see on our way to the club.
