What is the best radius for 6-axle locomotives in N scale? Ive never done N scale before, and I need to do a small layout to keep me busy. If I need to, I can go up to 20" radius, but will they run okay on 16-1/4" or 17-1/2" curves?
So what you planning to build Josh? N Scale I guess you don't have enough going in HO scale to keep you busy

Hi Josh -
Those 16-1/4" or 17-1/2" curves are the equivalent of 30" or 32" in HO. So if an HO loco would run and look good on a 30" curve, I would think its N-scale equivalent would run and look good on your proposed curves.

Thanks Jeff! I started doing the plan with 17-1/2" minimum radius curves, so I should be good running those BIG 6-axle diesels and 89' auto-racks and intermodal flats
