Question about 60' auto parts box cars

I'm interested in what types of things the 60 foot auto parts box cars were used to transport. I realize they were probably intended to transport auto parts, but what else were they used to haul? Thanks for any info.

Kermit, I don't know about all the roads but Milw. used them to haul lumber also.

Typically they are used to haul things that are large and bulky but not so heavy. Autoparts take up a lot of space but don't weight as much, so they can be hauled in larger boxcars and still weigh less than more dense items.

The old 89' HiCube boxcars were built for this type of cargo as well.

Often cars that say they carry "autoparts" or some speicifc item have been modified inside to utilize certain specialized racks. The car itself is really no different but the internals have been customized somewhat.
