I need to find out about the train shows that travel all around. We have a show coming to town at the end of December and I would like to know some about these shows. Are they worth the entry fee; do you get deals at the show; will I learn anything that will be worth the afternoon I spend there? The show is held by “Greenberg’s Train and Toy show”
http://www.greenbergshows.com/.
I’ve not been able to find out much about them or reviews on the shows they have held in the past. It seems they have many and I wonder how much is toys and how much of the show is really geared for the serious model railroader.
I would say so. I just went to the large one in Oklahoma City and it was definately worth it. I could have spent two days looking at everything and buying stuff.
At our local show it's mostly local vendors, but most of them don't have a physical shop you can visit to buy from.....
that and I get awesome deals on track and locos that have been gently used.
I've saved up some cash to spend at the local show this weekend

I find shows are worth going to. It is usually only a few dollars to get in and you never know what you might find. If you are looking for rare, or out of production items, shows are your best bet.
If you model HO or Lionel, there is usually lots to see as they are the most popular scales. N, S, O, On30 etc, will have smaller selections usually.
Most shows also have some layouts on display which are nice to see and steal ideas from

I'm going to a show tomorrow in Palmetto, Fl. at the civic center. It's usually one of the biggest & best 1's & that's where I usually get my best buys. U really need to know your hobby shop retail prices to get a great deal at a train show.

Maybe I'll see ya there tomorrow Larry
If I don't find something I need there, I might run to the hobby shop up on Clark rd. in sarasota.
