Have anyone use the drop sound decoder walthers offer with this locomotive?
I am thinking of buying Conrail's EMD GP15-1 and add the drop in decorder for my kids to enjoy. But I do want prototype sounds and realism especailly since I love the numberboards
the proto 1000 GP15 is a re-release of the walthers trainline model
Maybe I didn't make my question clear.
I wanted to know if the drop in decorder that is offer for the locomotive accurate?
Maybe you haven't seen a Trainline GP15-1 yet.
1. it has no see-thru grills or fans, which makes porting the sound more difficult
2. If you want prototypical, this is not the model for you. The handrail stanchions are too short in height.
3. Unless you specify which brand/model of drop in decoder, we have no idea what you are talking about.
I believe its a MRC decoder. Im not sure. In the Walthers reference book it has it next to the locomotive. Im @ work at the moment so I can not verfy
No, it will not be accurate for the locomotive. MRC decoders are nothing but trouble, and the sounds sound very artificial.
Ok thanks.
Do you know if soundtraxx have true F40's sound?
Yes and no. The Soundtraxx Tsunami has a genuine EMD 645 prime mover sound, but if you want it to be genuine, you'd have to program it into manual notching. Then, while in manual notching, notch it up to full after starting up. The prototype is like that. The prime mover needs to be running at full power at all times to supply HEP to the coaches.
Im just goin to buy a Athearn Genesis GP15-1. And yes I am going to get a soundtraxx than
I haven't heard MRC but I have heard the Quantum and the Tsunami and all I can say is that the tsunami kicks the quantums butt solidly. Dont get anything other than a Tsunami if you want really decent and accurate sound. In my opinion, the Quantum sounds like utter crap!
