The Port of Oakland is only about 40 minutes away as I live in San Jose.
I wanted to take my son down to check out the trains and all the freight and inter-modal equipment. And of course, those cranes.
Anybody know where regular folk can hang out to just check out the action?
From Google maps, it mostly looks private industrial.
I wanted to see if anybody knew of any hangouts where you can get some clear up-close views of some train action.

Port of Oakland

A dozen years ago I used to watch the OME pull out every Friday night or Saturday morning followed by a breakfast at Denny's.

Now I would recommend the overpass above Magnolia Tower to watch the yard and anywhere along Jack London Square for main line traffic.
