I was wondering if anyone knows how to make pine trees from scratch for train layouts? I would like to learn how to make some trees from 3 to 6 inches high. Thank you for your help.
For trees that size I've seen packs on eBay that have large amounts for cheap.
But to make them that size, I might use the air filter technique. Do a search here for Aggro Jones or fir trees and it should come up.
Hi Mr Train: Try Bottle Brush conifers on page 2 of this section.
Thanks Grampys where do you get the tack 2000 glue? I will try this this week.
Hi: I think I got it at AC Moore. Michael's would also have it. Actually, any spray adhesive will work.
I recently saw another method for cheap pine trees. Don't recall the link, but basically:
Cut circles from those green scrubby pads (the example used various sized coins as guides).
Put a hole through the center of each and stack them onto a wood screw.
With the screw standing on its head, and the disks stacked on the threaded part, you have a tree

Paint and detail as needed.
