Well today I manufactured a all new control consol.

My original looked poorly done, it was a silver brief case with all the switches set into the top lid and screwed to the end of the layout, it just looked too weird?

Here are some pics of the new one.

Good start, Jess, but some of those bare wires hanging under the panel and the twisted wire connections make me a little nervous. I assume you'll fix those as you go along.

OF Course silly....I have to hook everything up first, test it all as I go along and then make it nice and neat!

Believe me I don't want to live through another fire, the last one seperated me from all my worldly belongings and was the fault of someone in another apartment, one of the big reasons I bought my own home, no druggie tenants to burn the place down.

Well back to the nightmare!

LOL. That's just what I was thinking - looks like one of the light control consoles we had in our Ford box body ambulances. I'm sure it must have come from a surplus unit though.

I hear that! That was one of the reasons I bought my own place, the main reason was that the house I was renting was sold out from under me with no notification from the landlord. I got a surprise visit from a cop who handed me an eviction notice from the new owner. I had 24 hours to get out. No if's and's or but's, and no refund of the rent I'd paid ahead a week previously. Try finding a new home on 24 hours notice. t'ain't easy!

Good work on the control panel. It looks better than mine. It's a piece of fiberboard with a bunch of switches sticking out of it and a big maze of wires behind it.

If you ever switch to dcc here's a sample of what you can set up. this is from my Lake shore lines RR which would have run in the lakes region of NH.

Bob,Bob,Bob... That is one nice diagram there when I cross over to DCC I'll ask you to draw me up a plan for the switch panel, very nice indeed.

I had the job of disassembling an intire ambulance interior at my old EMS base, and the consol was payment for my work.

12 of the switches now turn on lights in different parts of town.
After I paint the mountains on my back drop and add vegitation I'll photograph the final out come and post the pics .

It has been a lot of fun, well, except for the darn wiring.,,
