Now I find I go here first and sometimes stop at that.

I was about to say that you read more CRAP over there, but lately I can't do that.

But it is pretty darnned friendly here. This from the old Rock Ridge and Train City sums it up. Feel free to use your own pictoral metaphors.

Ah, very good, Chris, I'm glad to hear you'll be spending more time here, especially since your third picture shows your little people were preparing for the CRAP program long before it was thought up. Our CRAP is infinitely superior to any CRAP that another website may try to imitate.

Like you, I find myself here a lot, and only returning to perform my function yonder when I must. Lots of good, solid, folk either place, but the marginals seem to gravitate to Al's domain.

I was thinking about you when I wrote this. I used to have your job on another site. About as big, but a little more rowdy (cowboys).

It was like herding cats.

Now I get to be the cat that sits on the fence and gets the dogs barking.

There are a few figures out there, but to get them to do what you want you have to play with them. I combined a Native American's lower end with a farmer to get this guy.

Same farmer.

LOL, "Blazing Saddles". I haven't seen that movie in ages but I thought it was one of Mel Brooks best movies. Mongo was a great character. You did a real good job with him.

It's my one and only nod to the movie, although I will admit naming the town after it. (I did have a toll-gate for a while w/ Nazi's and bikers.)

Jim, I agree, one funny movie. I haven't seen it for a while, either. Chip, I've done a little surgery on a few figures, and it's a lot harder than it looks. Those figures make the scene, don't they? Very nice work!

I'm shocked as to how accurate your suggestion is! LOL
I learn more about people and their life experiences through this forum that I ever could by just talking to them.
We tend to be a little liberal with our "fun" here and the more people that join in, the better. We actually enjoy seeing the fun others have on their layouts.
Our club layout has one "soap opera" scene with Roy walking up the road to the house from work, wifey is standing on the porch and Bubba is running out the back, headed to his car parked over the hill. The current name is "Desperate Housewives" for this scene. It gives us a chance to talk to female visitors and gather useful ideas for other fun scenes.
If this hobby is no longer fun, then I'll find something else that is fun to me.

I love when a layout has a story. It's nice to see allot of detail and things not thought of regularly. But I really like it when a guy walks around a layout and tells stories of why everything is where it is and how it got there. He can name every figure on a layout with a story line for each occurance. I read in a mag once about a guys layout and it started when a guy woke up and out the door thru the whole day as he traveled the layout. That made some interesting reading. Better than "Oh there's 600 board feet, 200 screws, 500 trees, etc."

Actually, all the figures on my layout have a name and story. The Indian is waiting for the Overland Express which will carry people who give money to talk to a real live Indian.

im loving it.
I've been thinking that there'll be a tiny replica of the horse sanctuary in my lay-out, with all the horses. tiny paddocks, tiny jumps, tiny riders....
lots of local scenery...

and all the daily drama of real life.

totally cool.

although the first thought I had when I saw the steer was:

hey! he beheaded the COW!!!! (shock, horror! etc,)
and then I laughed when I saw the results. It would never have occured to me to cut and paste plastic people. or animals.
