I cam' seem to figure out how to paint the slick outside part of sprayed on foam the paint ? just won't stick (acrilic water base paint) should I paint it with latex paint first then try to do some washes ?

Don't know

Don't know fer sure but could you take some fine sandpaper and lightly scuff the surface first or put a thin coat of plaster/drywall compound first?

thanks dave, tried the sandpaper but to many nooks and crannies and sculptimold dosen't stick a all think i'll go back to hydrocal thanks for the advice

Try using a primer coat of paint. Drywall primer would probably work. It's like trying to paint over gloss or semi gloss paint. The surface is just too slick for the color coat to have anything to grab onto. The primer coat will give the top coat a surface it can stick to.

thanks flyboy, do you thinkit will take a wash as good as hydrocal ( actully I use durabond-45 ) lot cheaper then hydro-cal and super light when dry. have never tried to color rock out of foam. shawn:)
