the intake to the motor/fan has a plastic ball in a cage that will float up as the container fills with fluid and blocks the intake.

That's the theory, at least. Hope there is a good seat for the ball.

The backup warning is when fluid starts shooting out through the exhaust filter medium, lights in the house start to flicker and finally all circuit breakers blow. (lights generally go out then too)
