Hi all,

Back around the year 2000, Overland models released a Brass HO model of the CN Cisco Bridge (in Fraser Canyon BC). A very nice model based on the model built by Doug Hole of Sorrento BC. The entire span was 810 feet and the arch span was 425 feet.

I think they sold about 50 of the brass models, here is a picture of it:

I have never seen a picture of it incorporated into a layout. Anyone here know someone that has one of these bridges or have a link to a picture showing the model in a layout?

I remember hearing the cost of the model was around $5000.00 so maybe they are all just collectors items sitting on a shelf, still in the brass color.

Never have seen a model with the OMI version of the bridge as part of a layout although I've seen at least one layout with a scratchbuilt version. My understanding is that the total number sold was more like 20 and the rest were returned to OMI and demolished. The price new in 2000 was about $5000 and I've never seen one for sale on any of the normal brass sites or e-bay so I'd guess they are all in display cases somewhere. I see it on brass want lists occasionally on want lists but I've never seen one offered in response.

Just got back from delivering four pieces to the Galvanston club and they have all three of the OMI bridges on or in the process of being installed on their layout. In the third shot showing the floor to ceiling canyon the Cisco is going on the top track (seen at the left side of the canyon rim), the double truss is on the lower level you can see the tunnel portal where it begins its crossing. In the back of the photo you can see a scratch trestle which also crosses this floor to ceiling canyon which is 12' front to back. Third bridge is on the upper level to the left of where they are installing Cisco.

Wow, pretty impressive looking stuff, Matt. I wonder how the have the budget (or luck) to get those OMI bridges? The clubs I belonged to were lucky to have enough budget for a few switches now and then. :)

I've been both over and under the Cisco Bridge and it is quite impressive!
Bridges are definately one area where the detail of a brass model really shine.
A little out of my budget as well, I'll have to wait for Matt to make one up in G for me. (?)
