Hello.
I dug up an old twin power transformer and I was wondering if any of you have ever seen one like this. I haven't.

Looks like the identification labels were on the top where there's now an indented circle with some glue residue.

Any help would be appreciated. I was looking to obtain at least the manufactuer or model. Thanks again.

Yep, it's a top pf the line Type ZW four train transformer. It could control four different trains in different power blocks and was rated at 360 watts. It had a built-in whistle and opening one of those cases up with power applied could kill you.. They weighed about 30 pounds so they could break your toe if you dropped it on you foot. By the style of the power and direction lights, I'd guess it was made in the late 50's. Lionel still makes a very similar transformer today except it has walk around throttles you can buy with it, an innovation unheard of in the 50's. Yours is, unfortunately, in pretty ratty condition, so it has very little collectors value. An interesting piece of Lionel railroad history though.

heh

Thank you very much. I think I got all the information I needed

BTW
I liked your story.

I wouldn't doubt that these things are deadly. I got blisters all along my palm fixing a camera while the batteries were still in it once. Dummy.
