GO PENNSY!!!
I am in a few model railroad and 1/87 scale military modeling groups on Yahoo and I posed something similiar on the groups and we had a lot of fun with the topic since everyone wants to put something unique on their layouts.

I myself have been using XtrCAD to design a Penetentiary for my layout. For me it's about adding a little of me to my layout. I am a corrections officer at a local prison here and thought I would add a little something personal and something I've never seen on a layout before as well.

Since I've also got a military fascination as well, I do plan on having a military base on my layout. Those are the other two big things I nwant to add to my layout other than an intermodal yard operation like the one I worked at in North Bergen, NJ.

So what have you guys added to your layouts that's different? Or what are you planning to add?

Scott

You want odd? OK, here's one of my oddball locos.

Probably not an 'oddity' as much as a fact of life up here in the Sierras during the 'thirties and 'forties, but I have a combination restaurant and--er,--"Establishment" outside of Sierra City--"Ma's Place"--that really kind of booms on the weekends when the miners and loggers come into town. Of course, some of the local high-school 'jocks' know about the place, also, and Officer Mezger has his hands full sometimes after school is out and they speed through town to see if Ma's having one of her "Afternoon Specials".

That's the Mayor's son being pulled over. BTW, Ma's also a 'pillar' of the local Episcopal Church.

well it might not be an "oddity" to me, but it might be to some. I have an airfield (1/72 scale planes, 1/87 scale vehicles and buildings... close enough for me!!) that is currently seperate, but will someday have a branch line running to it for commuters and the Fire Train! The photos given here show it occupying 2'X4' modules origonally built for a 4X8 N scale layout. Currently the N scale is beign assembled as a coffee table layout, the HO trains are takign over the modules, and the airfield is all boxed up awaitign real-estate on a set of shelves i desperatly need to acquire.

here's the airfield as it was in my apartment on 2 modules layed end to end:

I haven't built my layout yet, but I've got a few oddities in store, including some 1/87 scale NASCAR car's commuting like regular cars, and a couple odd railcar loads

Odd

Some nice oddities guys ! Don't know if these are oddities but they are some oddballs who had too many "Highballs" :D

Bob, that's a great novelty picture. Looks like it must have taken a long time to set it up.

Paul, it looks like the boys have had one too many. Hopefully they are not going to drive that Model A anywhere. :)

Mac, it looks like someone has boosted the blades from that entire fleet of helicopters.

I purposly leave the blades off. they are way to delicate for anything other than a model that jsut sits on a shelf behind a glass and "looks pretty". My models are always moving arround the field, I've moved 6 times in 2.5 years, and the models are always being re-configured.

Does an old time preacher dragging some toilet paper our of the outhouse that has attracted the attention of a kitten count?

I try as much as possible to keep anything 'odd' or unusual off my layout, since I'm aiming for believability. (Don't always succeed at it though...:D )
