o scale table top material

I have purchased some sound insulation board at Home Depot. I thought it was an mdf type sheet make from particle board, but is it a fiberous material that won't hold a screw. Is there anyway to use this?
I have 2 sheets of plywood, each 5/8 already on the table. Should I try sandwiching this soft sheet between the 5/8 sheets of maple?

How about glue instead of screw? Hot glue? Latex glue? Double sided carpet tape?

You could put a large washer on the screw as well.
