NYS&W From Jamesville to Cortland

A couple of questions.
What is hauled in those brand new WINX hoppers (gondolas)?
I see that there is no buffer car between the engines and tankers. Is that normal on that NYS&W?

Yup on the no buffer, often they are empties. MOST of those are "support" to Suite-Kote, a company that products an oil/water emulsion for road maintenance. Almost a tar. Of course the oil in it's raw form comes in as well in tankers. I've never really made the connection but there are a few of box cars that may have their purpose in life as buffers. I'll go back into the archives.

As far as the hoppers are concerned, not sure. Often the Northern Division of NYS&W pick them up in Syracuse and bring them to Binghamton where they are built with the southern division's SU99/100 to New Jersey.

Also often there are "trash" trains from the New Jersey to Binghamton then added on the Northern Divisions train to Syracuse where it's picked up by the Fingerlakes RR and hauled to the Seneca landfill.
