Happy Haloween Friday everyone,
Just figured I'd pop in and let you all know I'm still alive & kickin'! Been really busy both at work and in the trainroom, and asking "research" questions on the forum - so that doesn't leave me much time for idle chitchat.
latenttrainfan - welcome to the Coffee Shop! I was following your 'getting started' thread earlier. We DO in fact have at least one other woman on this forum: Claudia, a.k.a.
Lady_Railfan. She's into outdoors G scale modeling.
Chris - I, too, will be doing Halloween duty tonight. Since there are so few houses with young children in my neighborhood, I need to drive my two daughters to one of those newly-built "McMansion" subdivisions ~5 miles away to do their TrickOrTreating.
. . .
It's been winter-like here in Md as of late, and ironically, I was told to wear a short-sleeve shirt yesterday so I could get my free flu vaccination! I've already mentioned that I'm trying to make my layout presentable for guest operators - now all of a sudden new glitches are popping up, such as a block control switch that failed the other night. (I am on DCC now but the block circuits are still there, I just have all the switches turned "on".) I unfastened the panel and held a VOM to it and both sides showed 12.5VAC, and I thought, 'That can't be right' so I put a loco on the dead track to test it - and the headlight came on. So apparently there was a kink in the wire or something, because when I tried restoring the panel the problem block went dead again. So I ended up repositioning the panel ~4 inches below from where I originally had it.
