Good morning.

It's 55 and clear. A little on the nippy side for Louisiana. The high today will be in the mid 70's with abundant sunshine.

I started in on more work on my coaling station yesterday. I've added some of the beams in the roof and started on cutting out the individual rusted metal sheets for the roof. If I have time today I'll get started on the rafters. What's going to be tricky is getting the right amount of sag in the rafters. Did I mention that this roof is a scratchbuilding project?

Crones, huh? Thats a tough one! My father has battled that all his life. It's tough sometimes. I'm praying for you and your family. This is a tough time, no matter what the diagnosis.

Mornin', oops...... Ah, Afternoon everyone. I've been up so don't start......

Haven't been outside yet, but we did get a killing frost last night so the garden is history for this year. Hopefully later this week I will get it limed and tilled and pet to bed for the winter. Currently 49°F with a high of 52° later today. I have to show up for an Art exhibit, "Global Visions", of my sister's at a Mexican Restaurant in Canandaigua later this afternoon. I have already seen all the paintings that are being displayed but need to be there for "support" purposes...... Then we will have dinner at the restaurant... I hate Mexican food..... (I hate it, but I ate it...) They keep putting Smaters in everything and I gag on the stuff. Never been able to eat them since I was a little kid.

Chris I too hope that your wife doesn't have Crohns Disease. I had a friend several years ago who had that. She had lost some of her intestine and was on a very restricted diet due to it. Not a fun thing to have to deal with. But if she does, it can be treated very successfully in most cases today. Good luck to her and know that you all are in my prayers.

Well, off to work on the layout for a bit.

Morning all! I managed to survive another football Saturday with a Bama win. After I did my foo-foo duty at my friend's reception, I quickly changed clothes in the restroom and joined a full fledge tailgate party. Wow! This was my first experience at tailgating and it was a blast with 3 TV's operating on a generator, all kinds of food, fun, and excitement. No one got beyond the giggle stage of drinking which made things nicer for all. I begged out in the 3d quarter to beat the traffic and get back home to my coaching recliner:D

Well, it was fun but a shame I had the conflict with the ARG timing. Hopefully, I will catch the next one or even host it. Ya'll have a very good day.:)

Afternoon ! A real nice crisp Fall day here . have to go to a birthday party so I'm out the door Chris wish your wife's all my best and she will be in My prayers ! To all hope you have a nice day !

Good Afternoon to all,
The weather here at 7:40 Am was 50* so not too bad but no rain but some very high Circus clouds so I see what happens tonight.

Didn't get anything else don on the C & S West SL yesterday as I had to take a run down to Fresno to visit Mom in the Convalecent Hosp. which I try to do every few days. It's a 82 mile round trip and kills the best part of two hours depending on traffic.

Several times on the way home I stop of at a Barnes & Noble and look through the train magazines. Last night I picked up one, Model Railroad Craftsman? which had a number of nice articles about different layouts in it and the photography/printing was all execlent. Well this turned out to be a very satisfying turn of events, not only was I enjoying looking at the different layouts but as I got towards the back, I think the last layout article was that showing an On2 1/2" D&RGW layout that looked very intresting and somewhat up my alley as it similiar to what I intend for my layout to look like. So as I am turning the pages I see a lady dressed in a Black outfit holding a hand throttle as she is guiding a train into a saw mill if I'm correct. As soon as I saw her I said to myself,
'That's Mary Miller even though I haven't seen or talked to her or her husband Bill who are both well known Master modelers, the both of them, Mary was the first woman to get her Master Modelers Award.

Well now once I got home I need to find out how to get in touch with them and I did and will be intouch with them via email shortly after I finish saying good morning here. So, I thought that was really Neat to have that happen and will be good talk with them both again!

Chris: I'm sure sorry to hear all the problems your wife is having, it isn't easy I know, Mom & I took care of Dad for a number of years till he passd in 1989 and since about three years ago I took care of my mother day and night for 2.5 years of that time till she needed more care than I could give her so hence the Convalescent Hosp now. Even
traveling back and forth can be Mentally and possibly Physically draining even thogh we don't realize it some times.

Hope she gets well soon, we are all pulling for you!

To the rest of you Hoggers, enjoy pioliting your engines whereever they may be headed!

Have you ever

evening all,

Chris a friends got that and she's doing very well, she watches out what she eats and avoids wheat & dairy products which makes a big difference.

Rex, Jim, Carey, Mikey and Co Just watched a TV show called Stephen Fry in America, he went to Bama this time, Montgomery. He went to an Alabama V Auburn game as well later on, that was something else !!! the show before the game was amazing, you never get that here, Bama won BTW ;)

Wife's still in pain!:( Her doctor ruled out crones and said they are stumped on what's causing her so much pain? Tomarrow they are sending in that little camera in a pill to look at her small intestine i guess! The cat scans arn't showing much and it seem the other than the fungus in her colon everything else seems fine so the doctors say? So the $20,000,000,000,000,000.99 question is what's causing her so much pain????? Some times I wonder if I took her to a vet. they might figure out what causing her the pain and fix her faster:rolleyes:! Vet. seem beter than human Doctors at times!:D:)

Me and the boy are trying our best to stay out of trouble and keep from destroying the house:eek::eek::rolleyes::p I'm getting tired of washing cloths, cooking, and keeping the house up by myself. I miss having her here... It's a good thing I'm $BROKE$ too cause if I could afford my trains I wouldn't have much time to mess with them:(. O well........back to work:rolleyes:

Steve, as you already know, that rivalry is big throughout the state and people go bonkers the week of the game: old, young, doesn't matter. Records go out the window and all hell breaks loose. This year they play the game here in Tuscaloosa, November 29.

Chris, my wife went through all that mess about eight years ago. The Doc first said it was ulcerative colitis and put her on meds, including Prednisone. After about two years, he said that he now wasn't sure. He consulted with another specialist at UAB and said that it may be Crohns and surgery may be necessary. The wife flatly refused and demanded to be taken off of Prednisone. This is after she gained 60 lbs., hair loss, and became diabetic so bad she had to take injections. After a few months, she began losing weight, hair became healthy, and she got by with only taking the pills for diabetes and feeling fine. When her next exam came due, she changed Doctors and guess what: Nothing was found wrong and many questions remain as to why the problem in the first place...five years of pure ole hell. So you two be careful on making any decisions on treatment. One thing: Stay away from Prednisone.

Howdy folks, I've never posted to this part of the forum, but today was my dad's 87th birthday, so I called him from Missouri (he lives in Schwarzeneggerland). He has severe loss of short-term memory (hasn't been diagnosed as Alzheimers or dementia - yet) but he still remembers who I am :D. He's doing great, loves his new car (a Kia) that he got because he toasted his little BMW :( because he forgot to have the regular maint. done on it and it ran out of oil... Anyway, I just hit 60 this year and hope if I live as long as he does that I don't have the memory problems he does ... I'd hate to forget where the train room is

I met her once at a combination SER/MER joint meet once. I was the SER contest chair and she was the MER contest chair. IIRC her "specialty" is narrow gauge modeling and she is quite a, (what would you call it,) crafts..uhh..man...woman...person? Doesn't matter, she's very good at what she models!:D

I just wish Doctors, would grow a set:mad:! When they really don't know what's wrong, just tell us the truth that they don't know rather than playing Med. Russian roulet with our lives! I'm going to see her after work today, she's a tough girl:) Thanks for the 411 Rex!

Good morning folks

It was a cold frosty 39 F this morning. Our high toady will be 63 F. We had a bit of frost this morning. On Saturday night I pulled the filter out of the fish pond and sunk the water lilies. I also had to bring in the tropical plants from the front porch. Now it is time to think about pulling the a/c units out of the windows. I tested and the heater for a while last night. This morning was the first morning it came on.

It was a busy weekend. The Cub Scout pack sold popcorn both Saturday and Sunday. My son worked the first shift on Saturday which he was scheduled for and filled in for a non-show on Sunday.

On the way to the popcorn sale the van started to overheat and I had no heat. We got to the mall and unloaded the popcorn and got things set-up. My wife and I then took the van over to Sears and had them check it out. They could not find anything wrong mechanically or electronically. It was low on fluid, however. They flushed and refilled the system and pressure checked it and found no leaks. I plan on taking it to my mechanic and have him look it over. In the meantime I will be keeping an eye out for leaks.

Saturday was also my daughter’s birthday party. They went to a local mall where they went to a video game store that they could try out games. They did a scavenger hunt. We then had some ice cream cake and opened gifts. Lastly they went shopping with the gift cards they got as party favors and any money they brought.

Needless to say no trains this weekend. I am hoping for sometime this week.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Good morning.

It's 50 and clear. A little nippy for this part of the country but nothing I can't handle. The high today will be around 80 with plenty of sunshine.

I've got most of the rafters installed in the coaling station. Sometime today or tomorrow I'll be cutting the pieces of rusted roofing metal to scale 10 foot size and gluing them in position one piece at a time. In some places a piece will be loose or peeled back and some pieces will be missing altogether. This should lend one heck of an effect overall for the structure as it stands a lonely vigil beside an abandoned stretch of track.

This afternoon I have to go to DeRidder to see a urologist about my prostate condition. It shouldn't take long, a couple of hours at the most.

Mornin' everyone!

riverotter glad you stopped in to the Coffee Shop! Good to see you here. (Flo, I'll take care of his tab this morning.) Congrats on your Dad reaching 87, some memory problems seem to go with that age. My Mom died at 88 and had dementia. Near the end she couldn't remember that I had been up to see her two days earlier and sometimes thought I was my Father.... It is a sad situation.

Tom it is indeed that time of year. I fired up the wood stove Saturday evening for the first time this year and had a fire in it again last night. My cats liked having something warm to lay next to so i know where to find them in the evenings.

Well I have to get going. I bought 2 face cords of wood from a fellow railfan here in Geneva and I have to pick it up today. See you all later!

Good Morning to Everyone,
It was 48*F at 8:30 this morning so it was getting a bit nippy outside alright.

I didn't really get much of anything done on my layout yesterday, too much time spent on the darn computer. I did run my Old Time Climax and a few cars up and down Ridgecrest Grade several times so that was enjoyable using the Aristo-Craft Radio controlled hand throttle, very enjoyable to be able to follow the train in it movement. Somewhat like a video photographer photographing the loco's movements. Very enjoyable indeed and on a DC layout too! The advancements that have been made from a few years back!

Say Cjcrescent: It truely is a small world, when I posted that info about Mary Miller who would have thought that someone on the forum here would have actually been on a judging panel with her. I imagine she does have quite a bit of craftswoman ability. Her and her husband Bill have been in the hobby for many years now!

RIVEROTER & Others: Dimentia & Atzheimers can be at least be halted if not reversed by taking four items found at most health food stores;[ Nattokinase [The 'NOW' Brand]] it is a bit of a blood thinner so check with your doctor if taking other blood thinners, [Hupperzine A] to stimmulate the memory, [Alpaha Lipoic Acid] King of the Anti-Oxidents, as stated, and [DHA-250] is a consentrated Omaga Three Fish Oil!
These four taken in combination can at least halt Altzheimers if not reverse it! I've seen the effect it had on my Mom's Dimentia and turned that around in fairly short order!! I took care of her for 2.5 years Day & Night after her Large Stroke. I did double up on the Hupperzine A in the beginning.

Actually Nattokinase [ The NOW Brand ] is good for everyone to take as its an enzyme that gets into the blood and literally consumes all the bad junk including Clots etc an does not leave any residue! I've been taking this for the past three years and feel a lot better. With better blood flow your bound to feel better!

Steve- Appreciate the effort, but it will not open for a "YANK".
(That is a funny term since I used to be a Southern boy.)
I can see from the picture that he is at an Alabama-Auburn game from the fans dress.
If Auburn lost the game, it was over 6 years ago, but may be a historic repeat for this year. Auburn has not played very well this year, but Bama has struggled at times, too.

Rex- The ARG gathering was better than what I saw of the game. You just didn't want to associate with us, although, several ARG folk are devout Bama fans.
We will select a time outside football season for the next gathering, just for you! LOL;)
