Hi,
Just got into this hobby after being "retired" from an automotive supplier and am trying to build my first layout with my grandson. I bought some Atlas #281 turnouts and the #52 switch machines to go with it. There doesn't appear to be any flanges on the turnout to mount the machine to (see photo). The picture on the pachage shows flanges. What am I missing here?
See that small nub sticking out to the left--Well, that hooks into the turnout. Before you do that you have to insert the arm in the hole on the actuator arm. Then the switch just snaps in. Originally it came w/screws & a nut sunk into the bottom of the switch. You shouldn't need them though. That turnout is a #4. It will work w/most engines & freight cars. If you get into the long stuff U will need a #6.
Yes, the extension tab still comes with it along with a bunch of screws. Looks like when they cost reduced this part, they forgot to take out the rest.
